You may like 2 better, but I found 3 and 4 to be the best out of the Zero series.Xeogred wrote:On that note, think I'll wrap up Megaman Zero tonight. It was pretty good, not amazing or anything though. I would say for a Megaman game the music was definitely pretty weak, not that memorable. But some of the final stage themes have been good. Overall, still definitely fun though and I'll be checking out the sequels soon.
I still need to hit up MMV, X-X2 on the GB too, those look awesome.

I'm happy to hear that (Flake and Veno). I mean I don't know if there's some secret ending that I missed in Zero or something, but I thought it was funny how after the credits rolled... that was it. The premise at the very beginning of the game definitely felt like some big stuff was gonna go down, but yeah, there was probably less story in that game than the first X games I'd say personally. Still wasn't bad though, I guess maybe it's best to look at it as a prelude to Zero 2-4 as it sounds like they'll expand upon the story a lot more.
That had to have been one of the easiest final stretches in a Megaman game as well too, haha. Once I got all the elements and the bosses weakness down, man they were easy, and the final boss was a cakewalk. It was a little brutal at the beginning though so I won't really complain on it getting easier. Funny enough I did end up never using those E-Tanks though, lol.
I just might start up Zero 2 tonight here in a bit.

Yeah, the final area isn't too bad since by this point you have the elemental chips and you're used to all the patterns. It's really quite satisfying to see how much you've grown as a player.

Funny way to put it. I think it was also the fact that you could save in between the final stages and go back to the main base, so it wasn't that usual intense Wily/Sigma tower stretch or anything.
Re: Mega Man X series post MMX3- Are they worth playing?
Well in Sigma's case you could go back to Armored Armadillo's stage and refill your lives and sub tanks in the opening between each Sigma stage (I don't remember if it worked that way in the sequels, as I didn't play them 30 times through). But yeah, Wily was a true rush. Especially when you realized that the crash bombs were a vital resource for one boss.

Those damn crash bombs, haha.
I totally forgot about that with Wily... I can't remember if X2-X6 were like that actually either, it's been so long. Damn, I really should replay some of the X games after I hit up the Zero games since I've forgotten so much.
In the original games it was even more epic when there was two castle/bases. I think MM4-6 did that for sure, not totally sure on the others. MM3 was still huge though, with you having to fight all the MM2 robot masters again towards the end. It was definitely a bit bigger in scope than the first two games.

1 & 2 had the single castle after the robot masters. 3 had you redo 4 of the stages with a midboss/boss pattern with the Mega Man 2 bosses (and the stages were subtly different. Then a single castle. 4-6 had the two castles.

Yep, thought I was right on 4-6, with those BIG crazy plot twists.
I think they gave up by 6 with Mr. X.

They did. I mean, Mr. X's disguise is only slightly better than Clark Kent's.Xeogred wrote:Yep, thought I was right on 4-6, with those BIG crazy plot twists.

I think it's easy to say they really stepped up the music in Zero 2. Way better than the first game. I'm liking the levels a lot more too, a lot more secrets scattered around. My Metroid/Castlevania senses have trained me well.
