North East/NYC RB Meetup: Any Interest?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Will that also include Konami LCD games? (Dammit; I can't find my copy of Airforce Fighter.)
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

I'm in for the 22nd! I'm okay even if we just hang out and play games at the bar. Although, we should probably try to get some console gaming in for anyone who is coming from farther than an hour.

Hopefully everyone coming is 21+?

*edit* I just re-read the OP. Sounds like everything is set!

Hey everyone! As long as it's within reasonable walking distance from Grand Central (Coming from Connecticut), I would love to come along. As far as I know, I should be able to get that Saturday off.

Maybe hit up some retro game shops (I've heard there are a couple around the area) and do some shots, I'm down for pretty much everything!

Barcade looks like an absolute dive from the picture on Goggle Street View. A cement building with a giant ass garage door, spray paint all over it ,and barred up tiny windows: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=retro+gam ... 8xzAYy_Asw

Is this in a good neighborhood?

That's what I'm talking about!

Btw, there's not too much you can get to by walking from Grand Central, but the subways are numerous and only cost $2.25 per ride.

I haven't actually been by yet. I did go by 8 Bit and Up today though (got a brand new 72 pin connector for my NES), the place is really awesome. I think everyone will want to stop by there. I didn't have a chance to check out New York Video Games yet, though, nor Nintendo World Store.

As far as the neighborhood by Barcade, it's a once-bad-but-now-hipster neighborhood. The bar looks like a dive bar, for sure, but the area looks (from what I can tell) to be normal looking (for New York, of course).

We should also start thinking about console games at home, too. I got a few of the usual games we can play, like Street Fighter II, GoldenEye/Perfect Dark, Red Faction 2, Super Bomberman, Smash Bros Melee, or Mario Kart 64. I don't have a very big collection, though - only around 100 games for NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1, N64, GCN, and XBOX. How many TVs would we want at the same time? I could quite possibly accommodate 4 TVs, but I only have 1 right now (we're saving up for a new TV, so I won't have that yet, and I might get another decent-sized CRT TV before the meetup, since I was going to by one anyway). But feel free to bring stuff if you all want, especially if you're driving. The more, the merrier. And bring trade items!

And who's bringing the Casio Loopy and Tiger Electronics? ;)

PS - Op is updated.

The area "looks bad" but is actually fine. It's THE hipster spot in Brooklyn. Williamsburg is completely full of mid 20's art wannabees and cool kids.

The outside looks likes garbage because it gives that "shitty cool place" charm to it. The inside is actually very nice. Check out all those brand new high rise apartments surrounding it.

You can see the ugly building thing is all a facade once it opens up. Just go through the photoalbum.
