If you have good recommendations for other systems, I'd be interested in those. As much as I love the SNES games, there comes a time when I've replayed them all (I still haven't played Terranigma, though :/ soon...soon...).

Goof Troop is a Zelda clone, and a fun one at that:

I feel like some games might be escaping my mind at the moment, but yeah Alundra is all I can think of. Another good one from Working Designs. It's definitely in the vein of Zelda / Quintet Trilogy kind of stuff with awesome music and graphics, with a fairly serious and dark tone/story. The second game is 3D though and supposedly terrible, made by different developers, so yeah I'd probably avoid that one.

It's probably a good thing you've played Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia (I'm guessing) already before Terranigma. I played Terranigma first and maybe that's why I'm just not enjoying Gaia that much. Very annoying maze-like dungeons with lots of backtracking, music is really average, the story/characters is just downright hilariously bad (though I heard it was edited quite a bit), it's still fun... but not doing much for me. I'm nearing the end though so may as well finish it. Funny enough as simple as Soul Blazer is in comparison, I had a lot more fun with that one.

Terranigma has its quirks and oddities as well, but yeah it just blows Gaia out of the water if you ask me. Breathtaking music and I don't really say this about any other SNES game, but it had like... SNES cutscenes you could say, some of the scenes in the games just felt really cinematic for an SNES game. I was really impressed with it when it came to that stuff and the emotional moments. Some awesome tracks here:

And this is the creepiest SNES track ever, lol

Soul Blazer was a lot of fun, I'll give you that. I actually enjoyed the soundtrack too, but I couldn't listen to it too much, and the music after spending too much time in a level was annoying. With Gaia, I felt the opposite. The music was in the background, augmenting the game rather than shining brilliantly (or flashing, as in Soul Blazer). I also thought the puzzles made it a better game than the easily figured out SB, but then again, I can't compare it to Terranigma yet. All I have to say is that it better match the hype, because everyone has recommended this game so highly.

Meh, I'm going to not watch these, partially because I'm leaving the coffeeshop, but mostly because I want to experience it for myself first.

Digging into Alcahest again, this game definitely feels short but it's got that arcade feel to it so it makes sense (plus all the difficulties and such). Kind of funny this isn't another Quintet game, definitely feels like it could be something coming from them. Lots of fun and the music is really good.

I think most of the really good action/RPGs have been listed so far. I would recommend Shadowrun a little bit higher tho. You might also enjoy Spike McFang, tho it's more of an action/adventure game (and fairly arcade-y). There's a few lesser titles that haven't been mentioned yet too: Lagoon is decent tho far from great, but the music makes up for some of its shortcomings. Magic Sword is another arcade-y action game with mild RPG elements. Lord of the Rings and Young Merlin are a couple of other ones (tho not that great really).

Then you've got the Japanese-exclusives: Holy Umbrella (excellent), Neugier (decent), Ys V (excellent), Font Mission: Gun Hazard (very good), Patlabor, Popful Mail, probably others I'm forgetting about...
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games
