What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Alright so I just saw that Gavin Hood director of Wolverine is directing Ender's Game. WTF. Can someone (Luke) tell me how this is going to turn out good? I just don't see it. Thanks for ruining my chances at seeing a great book, turned great movie, Hollywood.

What a pretentious waste of film. Brian Eno music in all the inappropriate places, lifeless protagonist.. Couldn't finish it. At least I was warned beforehand http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/12184/drive/
This has nothing on Mark Dacascos' 1997 Drive.
If I saw that dude on the street I would literally punch him in the balls. I *hate* that actor.
BTW I mean the guy from the Notebook and all those other pretentious Notebook-type movies he's in. Not Dacascos... that guys cool.

It was never gonna be good dude. C'mon, its not possible to make Ender's Game into a movie. I guarantee the first complaint from people will be
*Spoilers ahead for those who haven't read the book*

I saw that one once, when my theater was showing it for free. I thought it was decent, but I kept thinking it could have been so much more hilarious if they had just lost the girls and focused on Gru being an evil jerk.Stark wrote:My last one was Despicable Me, but I forgot to post about it! I really enjoyed it, it was heart-warming... Probably helps that I have two girls, it made me tear up.

Did you see Lars and the real girl? I liked that one. Can't say I've seen any of his other movies, but he's been popping up everywhere lately. Including that new George Clooney movie that looks exactly like every other George Clooney movie from the last 5 years that seem to be made for the sole purpose of desperately grasping for oscars.indecks wrote:Pulsar_t wrote:

Not a movie, but:
The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen.
Funny, but IMHO, the only difference between a funny CC Roast and a really funny one is Lisa Lampinelli, whose absence in the CCR of Charlie Sheen is nothing short of tragic.

Vanishing On 7th Street, it was OK but it had some great moments.

Mortal Kombat (1995)
I have a lot of nostalgia for this, as I'm sure a lot of people here do, but lets face it, this is by no means a good film. Its got some really cliche and cornball dialogue and plot points ("You must first conquer your fears", etc) and some seriously dated effects (Holy crap do Reptile and Scorpion's uh... snake thing look bad, they look like ps1 FMVs or something.)
Still though, the fight scenes are all really cool, I still chuckle at Johnny Cage's corny one-liners ("Those were $500 sunglasses asshole!"), and the puppet work used to bring Goro to life still look really good. Plus there's THAT AWESOME THEME SONG.
Its still a lot better than most video game movies (which I think says a lot about just how bad most video game movies are), but I'd definitely leave your nostalgia glasses on if you're gonna rewatch it.
Oh geez, if this movie is dumber than I remember, I can't even imagine how much shittier the sequel will seem... I think i'll pass on watching that abomination again

I remember years ago that Wolfgang Peterson was supposedly going to direct it as well as a Bullitt remake with Brad Pitt.Stark wrote:Alright so I just saw that Gavin Hood director of Wolverine is directing Ender's Game.
