Duke Nukem Forever turns 11

Post by philipofmacedon »

I think this topic qualifies as retro.

Supposedly, people have actually seen the game in action, and they think it might be good. I feel like people have gotten so tired of waiting for this game that it will have to cure cancer and bring about world peace to avoid negative reviews.

Didn't they (3D Realms) release a trailer a few months back?

Looked like it was rendered with the Doom 3 engine... Whupee...

lolz i remember reading about this game in PC gamer 11 years ago.

Prey was first announced right around the time Quake 1 was first announced. it eventually came out. this game will eventually release, but lol at the ridiculous dev cycle.

the final lolz will happen when the game releases and ign gives it a 4.0

My mate and I are planning on camping over night for the release! We're gonna get loads of people to come. Just because it's such a legendary release. I'm gonna buy it even though I have nothing to play it on. (I roll OS X/Linux now, none of that windows shit for me :P). Just for the sake of having the most 'anticipated' game of all time :P

I'd die if it comes out and it's like the best FPS ever made.

There's only 3 things I can think of that has caused this game to be delayed this long.

1. 3D realms are only a small company, so long development cycles are expected really. (obvious)

2. They've spent so long develop that several technology cycles have passed so they've had to waste time porting code to several different engines. (obvious again)

3. They've cooked up this awesome beast of an engine that will smite all that has gone before it in sheer rad awesomitude. (unlikely)

Yeah, if you have a DS you can get it on there in full uncensored glory! Or psp, or xbox, or just plain ol' PC. You have a PC right, otherwise you wouldn't be posting here... Unless you're one of those weirdo's who only post at work? :P Just kidding, i'm at work right now.

or the awesome saturn port..why awesome you say

1. the soundtrack is good
2. not only does it closely resemble the pc verison it also looks better at some parts due to some added lighting effects
3. controls are good
4. i cant belive its an fps on saturn that doesnt have horrible framerate (doom anyone)
5. It´s UNCENSORED

why the n64 duke sucks

1. soundtrack ? at least there is some in the menu
2. graphically nothing new aside from smoothing textures (wich isnt as good as you´d think)and making explosions look out of place sure they arent bad looking just dont fit in with the environment.
3. controls eh they work but take time getting used to
4. Its another lazy n64 port of a good fps (quake anyone)
5. It´s CENSORED to hell some levels have been changed to the worse.

but n64 duke does have split screen multiplayer and the machinegun is cooler but thats it for the good :P
