anyone else played Dead Island?

Post by deathsled »

I finished up this crap fest over the weekend. It is not a good game. 20-30 hours of kicking zombies over and then stepping on their heads. I could beat the game without weapons I'm pretty sure.

I played through the entire game without even realizing I had a special power that could be activated by pressing Z (mostly because I played the game without ever activating/upgrading that skill tree)

There are only 8 kinds of enemies in the whole game I think. 7 are zombies and the 8th type are people with guns.

The final boss took 3 seconds to kill because it too could simply be kicked over and then its head stepped on. This was not a spoiler btw, because after 20+ hours of doing that every few seconds it will have been the first thing you thought to do....

The most fun part was simply getting in a truck and running down zombies. That needs to be in more games.

I'm about 7 hours in and absolutely loving it. Although, I could understand why it won't suit everybody.

I've heard differing opinions, haven't played it myself though. The Aussie accents in which I have heard sound atrocious.

Yeah, British accents in games have a tendency to be quite horrible when they're not done by a British actor too. Luke from the Professor Layton games is the absolute worst, he makes Dick Van Dyke sound like a BBC News presenter. Weird choice when Layton voice actor is so good.

Yeah, maybe they shouldn't leave Americans to voice the British and the Australians, and actually use people who speak it naturally.

Seems like a neat game, but the graphics hurt my eyes and the sound hurts my ears.

This was one of my favorite games to be released this generation. It was a blast playing online w/ friends. Once you get to the city, the game gets incredible. Love it!
