I'm kind of that same way myself, I usually prefer a good mix of comedy with some action or something. Like City Hunter, or some shounens might come to mind. Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Rave Master / Fairy Tail are very off the wall lol.

This probably doesn't count since they completely rewrote all the dialogue for Adult Swim -- but Shin Chan is undoubtedly the funniest shit I've ever seen. Love that series.

After reading this I was trying to think of what comedy series I own. I initially thought there were quite a few, but then realized most of them had other main focuses. I only own one series were comedy is the main focus: Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. I love it, but I know in a series like this filled with so many references that I'm probably missing half of them.

That's not comedy... that's called drugs. Haha.

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi was definitely a good one. I remember catching that one dubbed on TechTV's old Anime Unleashed block, good times.

I hear good things about School Rumble... might check that one out sometime. Same with Gintama, although the episode count on that one is pretty daunting, even if I get into some big shounens, 200+ episodes of pure comedy? Dunno, lol.

I miss TechTV in general. And their Anime Unleashed block was awesome. It introduced me to some great shows I would have otherwise not known about. The closest G4 has come to re-instating it are those Wolverine/Ironman episodes :?

I really wasn't a huge fan of those two shows. I watched the first couple of episodes and thought they were kinda gimmicky. For instance both Wolverine and Ironman happen to be going to Japan for some absurd reason and they happen to be animated in that style. Like Wolverine -- him going to Japan actually makes sense since he has a history there but Ironman not so much. Ironically I kind of preferred the Ironman one over Wolverine though because his character was really well done and there aren't really that many particularly well done Ironman cartoons (not a fan of the one from the 90's or the more recent highschool version one). I feel like they just completely redesigned Wolverine - though his personality was pretty consistent his proportions and costume are wayy off. Didn't like his voice either - he sounded too young. Maybe I'm too much of a Marvel purist. :?

I also thought the animation looked a bit too polished for my tastes - but that's just me.

Anyways -- I agree G4 needs like a daily anime block.

They're animated in that style because they are Japanese productions. Frankly I've only heard horror stories about the new Japanese Marvel/comic collaborations, so I'm avoiding them like the plague. lol

And yeah, TechTV ruled. That's where I discovered Crest/Banner of the Stars as well. That one had a very bad robotic dub, haha, but I loved it and got the boxsets now. Rewatching it in Japanese was pretty nice.

Tech TV was good for the 2000's but I'm gonna bust out the even older shit!

Back in the 90's I still remember watching Vampire Hunter D on the old SciFi channel!

And then getting the TV guide to wake up at 2am to watch the original Galaxy Express 999!

or the early morning stuff when they aired Project A-Ko

This was the beginning for my anime obsession!

I remember Vampire Hunter D, heh. Wasn't it SciFi that aired the GITS movie sometimes too? Maybe that was TechTV as well...

Wow GE999 was on TV? Must have blown your mind back then, heh.
