Was wondering if this is a cable issue or normal. Basically, when the screen goes black, I can see a blurry band in the center of the screen, it's dark on one side, and slightly lighter on the other side of the band.
I have a similar issue using composite on my Genny Model 2, but I heard this is normal. For the Genesis, the composite has several bands, I dunno how to describe it, but it looks like pillars of shadows/highlights. It's not severe, but enough to make me wonder what's causing it.

Well the Genesis has HORRIBLE composite quality to start with.
For the SNES, check out this recent thread: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... =2&t=33124
Is that what you're experiencing? Or something different?

Re: Strange band in the center of my screen using SNES s-video.
Yeah, like that, but it's not noticeable unless it's on a black screen. Have any examples of the composite quality for the Genesis?
Looks like it's normal for some models? Guy said he tried different TVs and cables.
EDIT:
Looks like it's caused by "dirty power," like one poster said. Well, I have it hooked up to a cheap power strip, but the same thing happened on another power strip it was hooked up to. I don't believe it's TV-related, as the same symptoms were exhibited on an LCD. Not sure if it's the cable, either, as the OP said he tried other ones with the same problem.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

I don't believe its a power issue anymore. I bought a $120 Power Conditioner that is supposed to clean up power to perfection. It didn't nothing to change the issue.
Re: Strange band in the center of my screen using SNES s-video.
Yeah, I reached that conclusion too, after I switched to another adapter and the same thing happened, tried a different outlet, too.
So, is it model-related or a dying capacitor?

Re: Strange band in the center of my screen using SNES s-video.
I don't think it's model related because as we talked about in the other thread, it's happening on many different model consoles (from the original to the mini). And if it's not the power adapter or interference, dying caps would be a good guess. If you have the means and the time, you could try going through every cap on the board and test them.
Re: Strange band in the center of my screen using SNES s-video.
That's outside of my very limited area of expertise, unfortunately . . . but the problem is non-existent with RGB, correct? I may as well shell out for a CSY 2100 and fix all of my video-related issues on several consoles at once. Not like the band is a huge issue, I can deal with it.

We should lock this topic in favor of the other one, since it's been linked twice already, and has more members posting in it. I would think a merge would cause confusion in the conversation of the other thread though.

Alright, but the other one should be moved here, since this sub-forum is more suitable.
