Re: Neo Geo Pocket Backlight Mod?
Here's a link for a tutorial using a light from a Game Boy Advance SP-1 to front light the NGPC.
http://jamma-nation-x.com/jammax/ngpcdiy.html
I've done it and it's definitely neat playing in the dark. But the light also washes out the screen and colors a bit, and you have to tilt it down a little for best picture during gameplay.
I can post pics of my (much abused) NGPC if you want later.
And please, ask as many ???'s as you need, especially concerning the GBA-SP light screen. Most modders sabotage their first attempt (myself included).
--EDIT--
Oh, and there's no way that I know of to Back-light the thing. And, while it's possible that you could peel the backing off the LCD, I'm not about to mess with the NGPC screen to find out if that's accurate.

Re: Neo Geo Pocket Backlight Mod?
I would be willing to pay for someone to do this mod. Any takers?
Re: Neo Geo Pocket Backlight Mod?
apparently you can't back light a color screen that was not already.

^^ My Available List ^^

I also rent and sell PS2, Wii and XBOX softmod-kits and I collect DVD movies let me know what you have.

Thanks for the link! Think I'm gonna attempt this on my next day off. I would love to see a pic of Your modded NGP.

ChooChooBot may be able to do it. He is an expert at doing it for the Game Boy Color. I'll PM him this topic and ask.
Re: Neo Geo Pocket Backlight Mod?
Here's a link to some rough pics I took. Keep in mind that I've had the light in and out of this system and a Game Boy Color a combined total of like 20 times with a few attempted washings; the light screen is in pretty rough shape (I just threw it in there to see how well I could make it fit). I'm actually amazed the light still works after all the abuse and testing I've put it through!

I also used a higher resistor too (68 Ohm), which may affect the lighting.
Advice, don't try to clean or remove debris from the light panel (ridged side), just leave it alone until the very last minute to transplant into the system. Also, for me it just Barely fit (got it to close up just fine though
).
I would also check out the pics from the site of that tutorial I linked, as those are better pics than mine:

lisalover1, I could possibly do this mod if ChooChooBot can't. He is definitely the more experienced one (not sure if he's actually done a NGPC, but he has had better luck with the screen's quality on the GBC's). I'd bother him first.
I'm still looking into other front light options though. If I have better successes in the future, I'll let you guys know.
