Get a HD CRT 4:3, all the inputs from RF,Composite, SVideo, Component and DVI/HDMI. I own a HD CRT 4:3 Sony WEGA KV32HS500 and have been very happy with the pic quality. The 4:3 screen is perfect for all the Retro consoles.

@ shateredsoul - Check the Thrift Stores, there is always a variety there. Don't worry about SCART, thats for PAL systems. Component is similar for U.S. TVs. Click my CRT vs LCD signature link, wrote an extensive article concerning various inputs and HD TVs.

Be sure it has DVI or HDMI input, either will work with HDMI. Most Sony WEGAs that only have Component will only be a non HD 480i tube. HD CRTs are a lot heavier then a same sized non HD CRT.

I don't know if I'd try lying it flat. Might have to hope it stands up and tie it down and the trunk to keep it from flopping around. Take blankets and some rope. Or might see if it fits in the back seat. I had a heck of a time fitting a 32" big chunky square corporate style TV monitor in my 2 door Neon a few years back. Just barely squeezed it into the back seat. If I'd really have thought it out I would have just taken the passenger seat out. I did that when I transported an engine in the car once.

ha ha, the tv would be my passanger. I've never taken the seat out.. I might check on that. It might fit in the back seat, but I'm just worried about the weight.

As long as any connectors for airbag/rider sensor/motorized seat/butt warmer don't have "plug once and break to unplug" fitting like interior panel connectors then otherwise removing a seat is usually 4 bolts to undo. Maybe there are some plastic covers over them.

No friends with a hatchback/truck/van to bribe with food?

A friend of mine got one of those 34" Sony Hi-Scans in the front seat of his 90's Civic. Had to put it in the passenger seat because the rear door was too small. I did not believe him at first, but he took pic's so it happend. He got it off Craigs for $300, but it was a good while ago, I picked up a 30" Hi-Scan for $80 last year.

My opinion: Find a buddy with a better vehicle.
