Well, suffice to say, both of our - and perhaps others, points are being missed. My original post and continued point is not to say I agree with everything or even most things Mr. Santorum says, but rather that I have admiration for him and others who do not waiver in the face of criticism, and in the case of his family, death threats. I admire someone who knowing what he will say will be loathed by 65%+ of the population, to know he will be called a bigot, a nut, a racist, a vulture, etc and to still deliver a consistent message. And after being advised by the RNC to tone it down, to back away from what he believes to be true, he refuses. I personally admire that. Don't confuse admiration with anything but what it is. My personal belief is that gross intolerance that Mr. Santorum exhibits actually defeats an intended purpose. To bring others to Christ, to be a Witness of Christ, to be a moral compass. We can not show tolerance and compassion with his choice of rhetoric, I get that, I in fact believe that. As we have seen, Mr. Santorum is divisive and turns away many folks who are looking for a guidepost.

I hope that clarifies my original point, perhaps not. I written a reply now 4 times, and I don't want go there, perhaps on another thread, but prob. best left off the proverbial "retro video game forum". A number of interesting arguments were raised, ie, a theocracy, boy, I think we could derail this thread much further if we go there because we certainly are wearing different glasses on this one.

I will say this, I don't mean to be preachy at all. The majority of my best friends are non-believers and in many cases, atheists. I find them to be highly highly intelligent, much more so than the typical "Christian".

Again, trying not to reply...trying...trying...but, I really wouldn't call the most powerful people of this country bastions of the Christian Right. Without spewing names and getting into a 1-up debate, I view people with money, people with influence, and people with political power to be the ones who shape our current culture. I would classify Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Oprah Winfrey (and really much of our Hollywood types, in influence, to be firmly in the liberal - free-sprited camp) and again, this could just go back and forth, back and forth. So i'll close w/this, I think we were much more of "Christian Nation" in 1770 or in 1950 for that matter, than we are today. I too am scared.

:) Got a good deal on a game today.

:x Government shutdown stuff in the news again. I though we took care of that a few months ago? I'm sick of this stuff, they need to pass a balanced budget requirement so that this sort of thing won't be happening 2 or 3 times a year like it has been lately.

Edit:  Sudden sharp headache. If it doesn't go away soon, I'm going to make sure everyone is able to empathize with me by causing them a similar amount of pain.

The back of the Dreamcast box I just picked up is just cracking me up. Here's what it says...

"Congratulations, cupcake, you hold the future in your hands. Not just the future of gaming. Your booty's future. That's right. Because Dreamcast's built-in 56k modem means...you can play tons of games across the internet right now. So just plug in to any phone line and you're on to millions of wonderful people across this great nation who want nothing more to mop the floor with you. The awesome 128 bit graphics mean you can watch that happen in jaw-dropping detail. (butt sling not included). "

Classic. Just Classic.

Smile: This whole weekend almost.

Went over to Star Worlds Arcade for their party for their documentary being shown at a film festival in my hometown and Donkey Kong's 30th Birthday Party. Met Walter Day (and a bunch of other cool people), won tournaments in Donkey Kong Jr. (102,200) and Super Mario Bros. Pinball (147 million plus), watched that awesome documentary on SWA, and got interviewed by VGTV.

Not to mention hanging out with friends and consistently having Pat (owner of Star Worlds) introduce me to people and saying how great of a guy I was. Just all-around awesome and I wish it could have gone on longer.

Ticked: My website's host got hacked this morning, which had my forums down since this morning. Some dude named TiGER-M@TE. Apparently this isn't the first time this douchebag has pulled this shit. Thankfully it just got back up now, but it happened around 4 AM EST, meaning it was down for around 14 or 15 hours.

Not the kind of stuff I want to hear about just as I get back to college. :x

Super Smash Bros. (N64): Ranked top 5 in Wisconsin from Q1 2016 to Q2 2017

Thus my comment about Westboro Baptist. Do you really admire any group/individual for standing up in what they believe in and fighting for the courage of their convictions REGARDLESS of what those convictions are? What about the Klan? What about someone like Louis Farrakhan? What about Ted Kaczynski or Charles Manson? I am not trying to pick a fight, but supporting someone just because they "deliver a consistent message" seems really naive.

I think its a bit of a slippery slope w/the likes of Kacyzinksi or Manson, don't you? But sure, I admire Minister Farrakhan, I think he has shown consistency and courage, and while I wouldn't agree with, well anything he has publicly said, I still think he's intelligent, important, and he gets his message to the forefront, which is what his directive in the NoI is, so yes, I do admire him. I think its incredibly easy to dogpile on someone like Santorum or Farrakhan, to me, that is naive and simplistic. People, loud people, loatheful people are needed on all fringes to present what can happen if we as society do not stay on our guard. Call it catastrophization theory if you like, but it is important, they are important. They are the ones who shape the debate and are the ones who inspire us to fight against what we believe to be extremism in either direction. I have no personal issue with attacking positions, but personal attacks, are silly to me. I hope I always stand up, or make a comment, or offer a simple "check" to balance a dogpile. Sometimes if for nothing else, to take the time to stop and think intelligently, the "12 Angry Men" syndrome. I'm not just referring to the few comments in this thread, but rather multiple comments on this forum over the couple years i've been on here. Calling someone a douchebag or a dickhead does not further debate, it is kindergarten semantics, attacking a person and not a position. "Don't bring me a problem, bring me a solution" mentality is something that I admire, consistency in the face of vocal opposition, yes I admire that and it is something I personally strive for. Naive as I may be :/

My Pops owns a Cessna and a J-3. Not exactly top notch planes, but hey, they can fly. I guess you are working on your VFR license; good luck and look into North Dakota University; one of the best flight educators on Earth.

I'm going with the eventual goal of getting a multi-engine commercial license. We have one of the best ground schools here in Denver at Metro State. Though I definitely will look at NDU for sure.
