A while ago, I was a stupid young man and tried out the slide card method with a crude reproduction from a credit card - didn't work out so hotly and I accidentally pried off the front cover of the drive's tray. Since then, my PS2 has been looking like a pawn shop pick-up, and I'd like to restore its image.
So, for starters, is this an invasive procedure? Which part(s) would I need to fix it?
Which part do I need to replace the tray cover on a PS2?
Which part do I need to replace the tray cover on a PS2?

Do you still have the plastic edge? You can glue it back in place with the tray open.

I don't think I do.

Maybe make a custom edge, cut from a DVD case? Go nuts and have a custom edge cut from brass or aluminum?

I just want the official Sony piece of plastic on the front so my PS2 doesn't look ghetto, I know people sell gutted PS2 parts, but I'm not sure what I need. If I need the whole assembly, I could probably hang that because my laser is dying anyway.

Shucks, not compatible with mine. I have a SCPH-39001, this is for the 5 series. Any idea how something like this would be installed?

I found this one, but I'm skeptical. Does the 39001 fall under the 30000 series umbrella? The X throws me off because it's the last digit and not, say, the second. Could be wrong.

Ask the seller himself? I think it should.

Can't message him due to his settings - he disabled it and only has frequently asked questions. Hate when people do that.

he has live chat on his faq site.
