Certainly a valid point that it could be difficult to install some on older classic cars without messing them up. Although in this case he specifically mentioned that there was a seat belt delete option for that year which means there must be a place to must be a place to mount some, even if only lap belts. Headbutting the steering wheel in an accident would likely still be preferable to kissing the windscreen and/or bodysurfing on the pavement.Ack wrote:Could he install some? Having read all the other replies:
1) That is definitely not the stupidest thing anyone's gotten a ticket for.
2) And this:
Whether or not seatbelt-wearing should be legalized or personal choice or whatever hardly seems relevant at this point.

Just makes you sound like an elitist prick. It's fucking irritating to get written a ticket for not wearing a seat belt when the car you are in is probably twice the age of the the officer.

So don't fucking drive the car at all then. That's a lousy excuse. If you can't install seatbelts, then the car is unusable. Sell it, and use the money to buy a better car.Ack wrote: I believe you missed something important. Why in the fuck do you not wear a seatbelt? I don't care what the law says. If you don't wear one, there is a very good chance you will get seriously injured or die if you get into a car accident. Not dying has got to be one of the most important things ever. How come you don't mind if you die?
It's really amazing how someone doesn't care at all about their fucking life, but they care so much about some stupid ticket. It's like a billion times less important than your own safety. Honestly, I am blown away. I really hope this is some kind of sick joke or something. Please don't tell me you are serious.
I would probably be dead if it weren't for seatbelts. About a year ago, I was driving down a straight road and some stupid fucker stopped his car in the road just ahead of me, sideways, blocking both lanes. I had no way to escape and I couldn't stop fast enough, so I hit him hard. Even with my seatbelt and airbag, my glasses broke from my face smashing into the airbag, and my right arm was burned and bleeding. My car was totaled.
Start wearing your fucking seatbelt, and then you can complain about stupid shit like $20 tickets.

I know your type. I bet you're of the mindset "id rather be thrown from the wreckage than be caught inside it if this thing flips."
Seen it a lot with classic 'vert owners lol.
I think once a seat belt saves your life you change your tune.
I won't start the car without my belt being fastened.
I used to have a 64 1/2 mustang coupe. We installed seat belts because it didn't have them.
With all that said, it's still BS that you have to go through this. You're totally in the right.

Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
Well my opinion on the matter is, if the law states that cars made before 1966 don't require a seat belt installed, then they don't require a seat belt. I guess that's the end of the story.
