Re: Gears of War 3
Loving it. Gears is one of those games I picked up one day, and suddenly couldn't put it down. I can't put my finger on it, but this is, in the shooter genre, the best game of the generation in my opinion. Plus the fact, I know a ton of girls that like this.
(You wouldn't think...)
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360
WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

I'll get around to playing this eventually.. even if Cliff Bleszinski is an asshole.

Re: Gears of War 3
Finished it up this morning. Great game, and certainly one of the best 360 exclusives to date.
**Minor Spoilers**
As I indicated in a previous post, I felt that the writing was much stronger in this one to the extent that I was able to read the emulsion plot as an allegory of sorts for our own dependency on fossil fuels, which is pretty well done if it was intentional. I felt that the ending cinematic left a little bit to be desired (the ending of Gears 2 was more polished and engaging), but overall enjoyed moving through the story and have also enjoyed the very little bit of multiplayer I have jumped into.
I will say, though, I've noticed that since I've played all three Gears games on the default setting, the difficulty has been sharply decreased from game to game. There were fights in the first game that I still remember giving me a hard time and I recall thinking some parts (such as the final fight on the train) were brutally unfair. There was maybe one or two parts in the previous game that gave me some difficulty. There was nothing in this one to really challenge me. Certainly if I played on a harder difficulty things may have been different, but it is disappointing to me when the difficulty drops so much and so obviously from title to title...

I specifically remember that the turrets in the first game where ridiculously unforgiving. You pop out of cover too late or too early, and you get to watch Marcus' body explode in a hail of turret fire.dsheinem wrote:Finished it up this morning. In the third game, it's like "Hey guys, they have a Troika turret setup. Meh". It seems like everything in the third game just 'downs' you: nothing is a one touch death like the berserkers in the first game.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

One of the few things that make me jelly of 360 owning peoplez. I actually played through all of Gears 2 and found it utterly boring most of the time. But certain aspects of Gears 3 (Like the new beast mode and the updated horde mode) make it look like a shooter worth playing.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

I played this coop with a friend for a few chapters, and I have to say that they exceeded expectations. I mean, it's still Gears, but it's really been perfected. I hope they let this be the last title though so it doesn't become too "saturated" (Like Halo - Even though I still played all the Halo games, they've lost something they once had).
I'd get it now, but I'm too stuck into Rez HD, Super Meat Boy and Resident Evil 4 HD.
I'm also pretty broke right now.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.
Re: Gears of War 3
I didn't like Gears 2 as much as the first to be honest, and even though I haven't completed the third game in the trilogy yet, I have to say I like it a lot better than Gears 2. I didn't hate Gears 2 though, but it just doesn't have the same fun factor for me as the first one did.MrEco wrote:One of the few things that make me jelly of 360 owning peoplez. A little too much drama for my taste in an action game, but a good game none the less. Worth a playthrough if you want to complete the Gears trilogy.Dom wrote:WHERE'S MY WIFE!!!?!?!
