My purchases of PC games have increased this year. Just started buying doujin games, which might not even contribute to these charts. Also have been looking at Steam for a few doujin games (RPGs mainly since I can't read Japanese). And Jamestown.
My B/S/T thread! :)

I myself just ascended into the PC gaming master race - so many awesome games that just haven't ever come to console.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I don't think that graph is legit. It's been going up since 2008, and they predict it to go down in 2012...based on what?

Edit: Fixed image.

Yeah, I'm not sure how they calculate that. It seemed a little odd to me too given that they appear to being doing linear trend analyses for everything. It's possible that this is some sort of composite score based on trends across the major consoles, so that if one starts to drop off, then it drags down the composite. I also don't know if they add in a prediction based on introduction of new consoles. Eh, take it with a grain of salt I guess. It's all predictions based on probabilities, so there's always room for error and they're obviously not showing the details of their statistics, so who knows how good their prediction models fit the data anyway. Nevertheless, PC gaming is seeing some real growth right now and that should continue for awhile.

They shouldnt count Micro-transactions and only count Solid per game copy sales, Micro-transactions is the worst thing ever brought to the Gaming industry.

I hate micro-transactions in most cases, but revenue is revenue. For some of the Free-to-Play games, that is entirely how they make their money.

It still is unfair, its not like a game on the PC has to be approved to be published, anyone can make a game, put up a website, and sell, Minecraft is a perfect example of this.

Games on consoles have to be licensed, and published, also Zynga needs to die.

Also i hate that PC games have no collector's value or resale value almost, like if you buy a PS3/360 game you can always resell it or trade it in, but with PC you buy it, open it, your stuck with it.

Sometimes i want to buy a game for the console (namely FPS) then the light bulb in my head turns on and i realize that FPS are far better on a PC, then i get disappointed and like meh i just wont buy that game.

WHY AM I SO WEIRD!!

Figures from indie developers generally do not make it into these kinds of charts. Plus, one of the things that is great about PCs is that they are an open platform. I don't know why that should be a criticism, other than it means less quality control from some larger corporate entity (that I probably don't trust to make that decision for me anyway).

There are plenty of older PC games that have inflated (or at least maintained) resale value. Go price the System Shock games, for example.

How the fuck is it unfair? On the contrary the console environment is quite unfair, outdated and counter productive for the business.

Zynga might suck for us, but it will introduce millions of players to games little by little, so we should be happy cause it means more people will be playing the games we like as well, in the future.

..........................but that makes it cheap to get used PC games.....why is that bad?

And for the newer games with steam, you can just wait and get it for cheaper (though no used game sale I'm afraid, yeah that does kind of suck)

Not typical of PC games that came out in the last 5 years or so. DRM has been hurting the used PC game market, something which hasn't been a problem with consoles.
