What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations
I wonder what's translated/licensed? I'm not really sure myself. I haven't looked into them, but I have actually heard pretty often that the novels are a lot more serious or something, they sound pretty awesome.

The most recent one takes place after the third season. From what I can tell on wikipedia it says that it focus' more on the action. Still it would be nice to have some closure to certain other things...ahem!
I'm not sure what's translated either, I'll have to keep digging.

Eeeengh... not really. More like it borrowed loosely from a braggart's fabricated account of historical events. Historians don't buy half of what John Smith wrote about his misadventures.MrPopo wrote:And didn't Pocahontas steal from historical events?
Man, that would explain so much. The whole reason I was never able to get into FMP was that the highschool comedy aspect felt way too over-the-top compared to the more serious parts of the story. I can handle one mode or the other, but switching between the two like that killed my suspension of disbelief. It sucks, 'cause I really wanted to like that one.Xeogred wrote:I haven't looked into them, but I have actually heard pretty often that the novels are a lot more serious or something, they sound pretty awesome.

Akira, this film is so breathtaking. However, this is the 5th. time I've seen the film and I still don't get what happened in the ending. Did SPOILERS: Tetsuo destroy the universe?
END SPOILERS. That's the only thing I got and since I can't find the fucking manga at a decent price I'm sure I'm not going to be able to understand it completely soon.

Tetsuo created his own brand new universe, which separated from our own--thus from our point of view seeming to shrink and disappear.KillerJuan77 wrote:Akira, this film is so breathtaking. Speaking of Akira, I've always wanted to read the manga. Considering its six 3-400 page volumes and it was compressed to a two-hour film, I can't even imagine how much stuff must've been cut out.

I have the complete series. The main differences from the movie are that it makes complete sense, and there's actually character development.AppleQueso wrote:Speaking of Akira, I've always wanted to read the manga. You gotta admit though man, when a series has a 16 year old girl running a secret army and some undercover agent going into high school... should you take the show THAT seriously?flamepanther wrote:Man, that would explain so much. But that said, yeah. The way you said that made me think of how much I loath Elven Lied. One side of its face is this gory thriller, the other is some stupid cutesy love triangle with kids. I absolutely hated the contrast.
