Do you delete high scores/lap times on second hand carts?

Post by Curlypaul »

Recently I got hold of a Mario Kart 64 cart and I'm faced with the same delima as I always am with these types of games - do I delete all of the data or not. I always prefer to unlock everything myself, but at the same time its satisfying to blast the previous owners lap records.

What do you do?

I delete it all without a moment's thought.

Its my game now, and the save files should reflect that. I'll set all the high scores. :)

I purge that shit as soon as I take the game home.

I also delete the previous person's save data if it prevents me from being able to unlock material on my own. Part of the joy of gaming is to do it all myself, so relying on someone else's hard work...no, I just don't agree with that. So once I get the cart, I reset the saved data if possible.

Me too... Any sort of save data... track records, RPG save files, high scores... it's all gone the first time I turn it on.

This is weird. I was going to post a similar topic about a week ago!

I usually delete it all. Sometimes If it's an RPG or whatever I just check their file to see where they're up to. I like to start fresh!!!

Funnilly enough I got OoT and Majora at the same time I loaded them up to see how far they were. Looks like they got bored with Majora though lol

I also immediately delete any previous save data. Just did so with Super Mario All Stars with each game. The previous owner seemed to be about halfway through each game except Lost Levels, which had no save.

RPG data yes. High scores from shooters, races, as long as things aren't unlocked I may keep and just replace with my high scores.
Thanks everyone...
