I've got a 1987 Taito double dragon arcade, its controls are broken and the arcade itself is beat. However it has never been modified the guy I bought it off said it was never opened and it seems to look that way, everything is MINT! Just a tad bit dusty though as you can imagine. I hear these monitors literally kill people if you don't know what your doing and honestly I have no clue as to go about cleaning it besides blowing compressed air on it.
Anyways how much are these monitors worth these days? I'm thinking of selling the monitor to purchase some new controls and I would plan to replace the arcade monitor with a vga monitor. Or would it be better to just keep the monitor?
Thanks for all your support guys! I also bought a 1996 tekken 2 cab I plan to mame it. Need to get a new monitor for it and repaint it.
What's the average price of old school arcade monitors?
Re: What's the average price of old school arcade monitors?
Depends on the size. You can't buy a new 19 or 25" CRT for under $300.
WTB: 2600 Solar Fox, Solaris, HERO 7800 Space Duel XBox Ninja Gaiden Black Genesis/CD Shadowrun DC KOF 98 Disc only, Powerstone 2 SNES Shadowrun

The Taito DD cab monitor is rather small. Wells Gardner K7000...19", maybe? Does it have burn-in, does it even work? I'd keep it since it fits the cab if it is working. The control panel is setup for leaf switches (ugh, total crap IMO), are you thinking of total replacement or just buttons/joysticks?Xeoloux wrote:Anyways how much are these monitors worth these days? I'll post some photos tomorrow, It's 10pm and the photos would come out like garbage with the lighting conditions of my garage.
I'll be looking to just replace all the buttons and joysticks entirely.

Keep the monitor in that cab!!
So you got 2 cabs huh? I remember in your other thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=33031 you said that the Tekken was $75, so how much was the Double Dragon cab? I would have passed on that Tekken cab. You could have got a working one with all the hardware for not an awful lot more and you won't have to put as much time and money into it.
Well I do want to say congrats on getting something to enjoy and tinker with, I wish you the best of luck with your projects, I still think you should just built the mame from scratch like Dsheinem in his thread here viewtopic.php?f=28&t=31695.

Re: What's the average price of old school arcade monitors?
It does sort of depend on the model of the monitor and size,i have 7 cabs and thankfully have yet to have a monitor related problem, you can pick them up for a good price though- try arcade collecting groups and forums and yes monitors are dangerous as they can have 20KV (20,000V) on the back when powered up,they also hold charge when powered down so get help
