Lol. And then they played soccer! I used to get up at 6 am every Sunday to watch that cartoon!

...and then ten years later I bought it on DVD and wondered where the awesome show I'd remembered from my childhood was.
I own the DVD's too... haha, haven't touched them myself. Probably is one of those "best left in the past things". Although my friends and I get a kick out of watching the old Mario / Zelda shows, Zelda especially since it's just god awful. I was probably more into the Mega Man show than those though back then.

I want to think Sonic SatAM is probably one of the better ones that's maybe aged well. Who knows, but I'll pickup the DVD's someday.

Why should the events of the first games have been mentioned? The original Mega Man was about an insane scientist who sent various robots out to take over the world for Dr. Wily. Mega Man X was about a robot uprising. The events are very different in character. Wily's robots were following their direct programming. Mega Man X's Mavericks were thinking robots that decided that they didn't much care for people.

We have been using nothing BUT logic this whole thread. I'm not taking this personally. I just hate arguments that don't make sense. Sigma tells Zero, "you are the last of the doctor's creations" in Mega Man X 2. This mean he knows of all the various robots Wily created

Zero's dream in MM X 4 shows Wily saying he built Zero to destroy his nemesis, whose rivalry gives him purpose. This clearly references the wars between Wily and Megaman. At the time of Wily's existence, X didn't exist. So clearly he means Mega Man

Mega Man X 5 has you fighting one of Wily's creations from the classic series for crying out loud!

If Wily is not directly mentioned by name in the MM X series, we are OBVIOUSLY supposed to realize it's classic series Wily whenever he is mentioned by Sigma or shown in Zero's dreams. They expect their audience is smart enough to figure that out

Then there's the fact that the Light holograms and the Wily silhouettes we see look EXACTLY like their classic series versions. Why bother to do that if you're doing an alternate universe tale?

Lastly, why call him Mega Man X? The name Mega Man X clearly shows he is a NEW Mega Man, like a version 2.0.

I never knew about this show until now.

I do recognize Mega Man's voice as Goku's though.

One more thing, here's where Keiji basically SAYS the two series are connected

Like I said before: He said a lot of things. He also lost creative control over the series a long time ago.

As to the rest - my argument makes plenty of sense. You disagreeing with it does not make it make any sense. You see nods to another series as evidence of the two being directly related. I see the validity of that and tip my hat to you for being so well informed about what is easily my favorite game series.

I just happen to see significance in the omissions the series makes in referencing previous plot lines, especially given how deliberate the choice to do this had to be in some parts of the game, especially the first 4 games. Those omissions have never been explained away and because of that I am open to an idea you disagree with.

So how about we say 'yay for video games!' and move on? Because I personally love talking about Megaman and there is way more ground for us to cover than me and my (admittedly) controversial viewpoint.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

most people believe Mega Man X is the future of Mega Man, you have to take the context of when the game came out into consideration. Not just the game content itself.

When Mega Man X came out, I'd say Mega Man was pretty popular, anyone who loved Mega Man would have thought "Oh shit, Dr. Light built this Mega Man of the future! And he's talking to me from the past! but he's dead now :< " The creaters of the game knew this. As a kid, I never ever remember anyone mentioning a remake or a parallel universe. Man that's wacky.

We could let you keep believing that, but's it's like letting someone think that the world is still flat. Sorry man can't do that.. maybe Mega Man Battle Networks, Legend, and all those are parallel universes, but not Mega Man X.

or is it!!!! Dum dum duuuuuuuuum

Wait, doesn't Legends have ties to the original Mega Man? And ties to the later X (or Zero) series? If so, that ties the two together.

Legends ties the X and Zero series in amazingly well and there are some parts that kinda lend themselves to the ZX series but I'm not sure if that was deliberate.

The second Legends game pretty much screams "This is what the story would have turned out to be if X5 was the last game!!" As was intended before Capcom cranked out X6 and lowered the bar.

But other than a nod to Dr. Wily and mention of an old video game named "Megaman", there's nothing about the classic series in Legends.
