What's wrong with the BIN/CUE format? I don't know it to be lossless.
Re: Help, properly burning Saturn games?!
well, im asking is it bad to dump games with CDDA music as only an ISO+CUE. REdump.org archives their data as WAV+ISO+CUE

Re: Help, properly burning Saturn games?!
Well here's an important thing to realize: ISO+CUE is not the same as the BIN/CUE format. The ISO, for something like Saturn games, needs the WAV (or whatever other format like mp3) along with it. BIN/CUE is a completely different format. It will give you an exact 1:1 copy of any Saturn game.
I'm not an expert on image formats by any means, but from what I've read, if you're ripping Saturn games just stick with the BIN/CUE format. ISO+WAV should never be used. I think the only reason you'll find ISO+mp3 is because the audio is compressed and can save some bandwidth. Either that or people don't know what they're doing. "ISO" has become synonymous for images. ISO is just one type of image format, but it seems a lot of people don't understand this. They'll call any image an ISO even when it's not. So I think a lot of people will choose the ISO format just because of this reason, but it's not always the better choice.
When I wrote the burning guide (linked on main site) I wanted to right another guide to go along with it explaining the different types of images so that people can understand this whole thing better. But unfortunately, I can never get straight answers out of people, and 99% of Google searches return forums with people talking out their ass. I would like to eventually write up this guide though, I just haven't had the spare time to research everything for it.
Kinda just rambled on a little bit there, but I hope this helps. Anyway, short answer, I would just rip it to BIN/CUE using ImgBurn.

Re: Help, properly burning Saturn games?!
well yea MP3s save bandwidth. I guess when I get another chip for the saturn I'll test this out.

Re: Help, properly burning Saturn games?!
first of,hi everyone. I have a question regarding burning saturn discs, the files I have are .nrg disc images, they play fine in ssx, but haven't been able to burn them successfully, Saturn won't recognse them. Saturn is modchippd, chip is fine. What do I do to the .nrg file to burn it? do I need to convert it to another format, is it a burning speed or media issue? starting to do my head in!
Help!
Help!
Re: Help, properly burning Saturn games?!
Why wont this thread die?
The .nrg extension is the Nero image format. You need Nero to burn it, or Alcohol 120%. I think ImgBurn can also burn the NRG images. If not, you can use Daemon Tools to mount the .nrg image then use ImgBurn to rip it to BIN/CUE. This guide will explain how to do it:

That guide will also tell you how to properly burn an image in ImgBurn, and that info can be applied to any burning program. Pay particularly close attention to the tips for burning Saturn images.

Re: Help, properly burning Saturn games?!
I guess this thread comes up in searches easier, maybe because it's older and thus has more page views. Anyway, I edited my first post in this thread with a link to the new guide, so hopefully that guide and the linked thread will get more attention now.
