Yeah, I'd rather have less suing rights than be "beneath the watchful eyes." Looks like something straight out of 1984.

I'd rather have more rights and not be under constant surveillance. That's why it's important for us Americans to fight this. Just because we have less "security" cameras than the UK, doesn't make it OK for us to have no consumer rights.
The "Well, it could be worse." crowd piss me off. They just shrug and let the government and big corporations walk all over them. That's exactly why things keep getting worse, you know?

I can't believe Sony. What a dick move.
Here's your way to tell them to get bent, according to Destructoid.
"In order to opt out of the class action waiver, you need to confirm it with Sony -- in writing -- within thirty days. You need to include your name, your address, your PSN account number, and a clear statement that you do not wish to resolve any potential legal disputes with Sony through an arbitrator. "
Here's the address you must send your letter to:

ATTN: Legal Department/Arbitration

The market is large enough that if enough people stop using the service for this reason, a new service will appear, either from Sony or another company, that does not have this restrictive licence.
I suspect that most people are probably not concerned enough to go without PlayStation level online gaming for the several years it would take for a viable competitor to appear. If anything, Sony would change the EULA back, although there are probably not enough objectors to make even that happen.

That's precisely my issue. There's not enough people out there that care about their rights. They just don't care if it doesn't affect them directly. They're more than happy to exist in their little bubble and just be blissfully ignorant. It's sickening. It's morons like that that allow these companies to get away with bullshit like this, time and time again.Zing wrote:Emphasis mine.Niode wrote:They can completely fuck everybody over and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it if they accept the agreement.

You can opt out of the arbitration clause. If you send Sony a written letter with your PSN account name and other details within 30 days of agreeing to it online. Don't want to write a letter? Go to these guys:
https://www.gamersoptout.com/
You put in your info and they generate and mail the letter for you.

Why do I feel like a great deal of posters in this thread aren't reading before they're posting? Seems as though there's a lot of duplicate info...

Re: Sony amend PSN ToS which waives consumer rights.
Well a class action suit doesn't usually cost people like you and I money, even if it does take time. The linux suits were class action suits, as were the hacking-aftermath suits. Sony is trying to stop further class action suits with this new TOS statement, but in reality they can't do that (e.g. it wouldn't hold up in court). It might make people THINK they can't join a CAS, and that is deplorable, but anyone who does join one will not suffer any repercussions.YoshiEgg25 wrote:Why do I feel like a great deal of posters in this thread aren't reading before they're posting? My motto is if I don't agree with it, I don't participate or use the product or service. I suggest if you don't agree with the TOS, make a sacrifice and stop using the service as well. IMO, the PSN sucks anyways. Its either down for some stupid issue or there's always some patch or update to DL that takes fucking forever. Most of the time by the time its DL'ed, I don't even feel like playing anymore. Call me old fashioned, but I like to turn on the console and just fucking play!
