Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

My first name is Tyler as well! So tell me, how many old people have quoted this slogan to you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tippecanoe_and_Tyler_too ? And how many people have mistaken your name for Taylor or Kyle? Man, if I had a nickle. I just answer to any name now. So you listen to a lot of old school hip-hop. Tell me... do you like Rage Against The Machine?

I actually haven't ever heard that slogan to be honest. And yeah taylor has always been one of those annoying things people have called me, especially in gym my senior year when there was me-tyler and another taylor with the same last name. And for your last question I actually used to listen to battle of los angeles when I was younger, I haven't listened to them in awhile though.

Well count yourself lucky you never had to endure that stupid slogan, and welcome to the forums!

Hello everyone! I just thought I would pop in to introduce myself and say hello. I actually just stumbled across this website by accident the other day while trying to figure out how to fix something with an arcade stick of mine. (Probably going to make a thread about that or post in whatever existing thread later. :P) but anyway this seems like an awesome site and I'm glad I found it!

Introduction

Post by yuenadan »

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm happy to find this forum, as in the last couple years I've really developed an interest in retro gaming. I'm 37, and I was starting to become disinterested in video games as a whole. I started to think maybe I was getting too old.

Then I discovered YouTube channels like Classic Game Room as well as websites like this one (which is an amazing resource btw) which really rekindled my interest.

Also, although I'm Canadian I live in Taiwan, and there's a wide selection of retro systems and games here, nearly all from Japan. So I don't need to shell out a lot of extra cash for shipping for rare 'import' items.

Anyway, I recently purchased a Sega Saturn and a Sega Multi Controller which I'm very happy with, and I just keep looking and discovering new games that I missed, and rediscovering some of the classics that I remember from 'good ol' days'

(sigh) OK thanks for letting me know. My first post and already I've made a gaffe.

So should I repost this in the apporpriate thread? Or just wait for a moderator to move it? I don't want to be chastised for double-posting..

Hello everyone

Post by yuenadan »

I'm a 37-year-old Canadian who lives in Taipei. I love a wide variety of video games, especially games that give you that "Arcade Adrenaline" feeling.

I live in Taipei, I've been here for 2 1/2 years. I can speak Chinese a little, and I can speak a fair bit of Japanese (I used to live in Tokyo before I came to Taipei).

I love asian food, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, etc.

I love large cities, and urban settings with lots of life and activity.

In the past I've owned a Commodore 64, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Amiga, PSX, N64, and PS2.

I love the racketboy website and I think it's an excellent resource to find out about many of the classic titles I missed.

Taiwan is an excellent place for a retro collector, as there are a wide variety of systems and games available at decent prices.
