Lets Talk About GTA

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I just tried GTASA on the PC again for comparison, and good god that is one ugly game. My new monitor only served to make it twice as ugly.

On the other hand, Multi Theft Auto is one of the most technically impressive mods of all time, and clearly gave Rockstar some pointers on how an online GTA should be made. I think that if it werent for MTA, GTA4 would have had no online functionality.

If you believe that games have stopped evolving, then you can just GTFO this thread, thanks. You're living in a delusion.
Yes it is quite annoying when people who don't know better say stupid shit. But, it's not their fault. They don't know better. You do, so you shouldn't berate them. Just point them in the direction of an alternative and say "if you like this, then maybe you should check this out, it's X's forebear in the genre".
Showing them better games is not "berating them".
Taking the piss would be like laughing at a baby and calling it a retard because it falls down when it learns to walk.
What does this have to do with anything? Are you drunk?
You just have to accept that there's going to be new people coming to games with all the mainstream attention gaming is getting. It's no longer your personal hobby. People of all ages are now coming to gaming as a source of entertainment. Like anybody new to something, they'll make mistakes and bad purchases and rave about what are essentially rehashes or poor copies of much better games. If they enjoy it, so what? They're not forcing you to play it. It's not hurting you in any way.
A swing and a miss. I'm not sure you even realize what thread you posted in. I'm a big supporter of games getting mainstream attention and bringing in new people. I've said so in other threads. You're missing the subject entirely.
You just look like a fucking asshole.
Um, no, you look like the arsehole, arse.
I've not had sleep in about a week…

Stupid uni work. Normal service will resume tomorow…

Yeah I'm starting to wonder where all these 10's came from. Maybe Rockstar's accounting department did a great job handing out checks.

Also, I'm not sure if I should keep listening through to the Jack-off Thompson part. I really don't need to mess with my blood pressure.

He is really being a big prick here, but so far, Jim isn't doing a very good job of containing him.

Haha, loved this:

"Riiight, but like I've said, I've actually seen the 'sexual material' in GTA4, and I haven't seen any sex depicted yet, but obviously I'll Uh..keep looking."

"You haven't? Well then we needa, we needa, we needa get you into a 4th grade health class and explain what sex is to you, because I've seen it."

"What? You've seen sex?"

I've...seen it in the game...yeah."

Yeah I laughed when I heard that. Jack is such a condescending douche lord. He keeps asking Jim if he knows what things like a "conspiracy" or "pornography" are. I can't wait until the Florida bar revokes his license. The guy is obviously insane.

Lol, something makes me doubt it's more of a technical feat than Crysis running on my computer. :P

It's easy and boring as hell. First 3D GTA I have tried, played it a bit on my roomate's PS3.
Let my legs shake me to sleep, and don't wake me when I sweat on my sheets.

You're playing the first missions, of course it's easy and boring. GTA, like many games, requires a little bit of patience before you get into the real beef of the game
