There have a been a lot of great games and consoles over the years, but few moments compare to that first time you opened the box, slid the console out, pulled off all the plastic packaging, hooked it up to your television, and for the first time, heard this:

Although the chant was, I think, the first time I heard someone speak in a video game, this was a tad more memorable for me:

Aw, definitely. That was my all time favorite introduction. I think it was Super Castlevania IV which really gave it its haunting connotations for me. I was so sad to see it retire in the 32bit generation. :(

Also, the weird sounds at the beginning of Secret of Mana (of which I cannot find a good video on youtube).

Actually, the video game intro screen that got me the most excited for the system I was about to play was this one:



(I didn't own one, but there was a pay-to-play place near where I lived with a wicked sound setup in a private room)
