My mom used to threaten me that way (jokingly) when I was a kid. To this day when I'm being a smartass (always) she'll shake her hand at me and say "You're cruisin'! You better watch it!".

Your Mom's were nicer than mine. Usually more of a "If you don't quit it, I'm gonna kick your ass." And I don't say no to my parents, so....
