I would imagine this. Since it starts fine, then later becomes jerky, I would think it is a heating issue. Turn the speed up on your fan (after cleaning your card) and see if it makes a difference at all.pakopako wrote:Or it could be hardware; sometimes dust on the cards (desktop) or clogged up vents (laptop) can cause heat issues faster than expected. (And then there's the fact that this is a STEAM download.)DinnerX wrote:Just one game with a problem?
Video drivers up to date?
Windows updates installed?
Harddrive defragmented?
Startup programs under control?
Window's registry clean?
Viruses taken care of?
Sadly some issues are nearly impossible to fix short of reinstalling windows or risking messing up a windows installation.
Help a Noob troubleshoot?

Re: Help a Noob troubleshoot?
Update.
Okay, this game is quickly becoming my own personal Unicorn.
I bought a brand new computer. Not just for this game but everyone's advice made me think that it might be time.
...the game still doesn't work. It actually works even less. Whenever I load it I get an error message telling me it can't find a file called 'Spooge' and that I need to check and see if my directx is installed correctly. As far as I can tell, yes, my directx is up to date and installed.
Google also isn't helping much. Round two of advice, anyone?

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Help a Noob troubleshoot?
Apparently it is because the driver version is not recognized by the game.

Yeah, that's as far as I got in my own trouble shooting. I'm starting to think it's a graphics card problem (Radeon HD6850 or whatever that means) because when I run a diagnostic on my directx, I'm pretty sure it either doesn't see the graphics card or doesn't know how to talk to it.
Oh well...the icon looks pretty on my desktop, at least.

Try restarting your computer. If it's not detecting something, that's usually all you need to do.Flake wrote:Yeah, that's as far as I got in my own trouble shooting. Update: Yeah, re-starting the computer was what I needed. I restarted it a few times but it wasn't until I actually turned the entire thing off (like shut down off) to troubleshoot that it applied the updates I needed. After that it was just a matter of grabbing a couple drivers off of Steam and away we go!YoshiEgg25 wrote:Try restarting your computer. Expect me to revive this thread periodically as I stumble through the world of PC gaming now that I finally have a worthy computer.

I understand that, clinically, this works.YoshiEgg25 wrote:If you haven't already, restart your computer. You have no idea how many things a simple restart can do.
Theoretically, there are so many reasons (horrible memory management being near the top) why this should not and could be bad. Glad to see Flake all patched-up though.
