I am a lefty, but most game controllers are designed for us so I dont know what the fuss is. You want your most precise moments to be on your dominant hand, and movement requires far more precision than action keys. The flaw in this logic is playing PC FPS, since I use my right hand for the mouse most of the time. But that is more muscle memory than anything else - which explains why I am no good at shooters anymore because I use a trackball at work instead of a mouse.
The only time I have an issue with this is playing an FPS title on the Wii, I want to move and aim with my left hand, and it is not possible.

Exactly. The vast majority of games are designed for lefties. I tried to learn Street Fighter with an arcade stick but it was hard because I'm right handed.fastbilly1 wrote:I am a lefty, but most game controllers are designed for us so I dont know what the fuss is. I remember when some arcade games came with the stick on the right, or offered ambidextrous use. I'm pretty sure I played Dig Dug with the stick in my right hand and used the left button. Atari 2600 and Odyssey² sticks are also button on the left, as is the SMS stick already mentioned.

I'm a lefty and the Atari 2600 stick is probably the only one I can recall where the joystick was in my right hand. Everything else has felt very natural. I even play guitar hero like a right (left hand on the colored buttons) and it's very natural. I think we've got it pretty good actuallyHobie-wan wrote:I remember when some arcade games came with the stick on the right, or offered ambidextrous use. I'm... ambidextrous. Not really useful other than just showing off.
It's been awhile since I've touched a Wonderswan though. (Much less a LYNX or old arcade games like Dynamite Duke.)

I have no hands. I use telekinesis to manipulate keyboards, controllers, etc.

I've built a matrix machine and I connect my brain directly to the console and become the player.AppleQueso wrote:I have no hands. I use telekinesis to manipulate keyboards, controllers, etc.
It's kind of strange when I play sports games or JRPGs though. I get split personalities. Not to mention it was quite uncomfortable playing FF13. There was only one guy in the cast, Shaz.

My brother is left-handed, and I remember that he used his index and middle fingers on the A+B buttons when we first got the NES in the 80's.
He's always been a pc/mmo guy these days, left-handed mouse user. Never thought to ask him if discomfort with the controller has anything to do with his preference towards pc games. I haven't seen him play a console game since I was a kid. He has a Gamecube that's been fired up less than 10 times.
