Makes me think of this (old as it may be).

Having worked in a similar sales environment (AAFES PowerZone in Japan, when I was a teenager), I'd say that it's preferable for the sales associate to know the product - or at least be willing to admit when he doesn't - but that, practically speaking, he's there to keep shelves full, items priced right, and maybe go check to make sure something is in stock.

Most likely, however, Best Buy has trained him not to admit he doesn't know, but instead to give a standard answer. Probably one fed to them by one of their retail partners.

If you're not returning the computer, post the model. Chances are if it's an HP or something, it's got an ODM motherboard build by ASUS/MSI/etc that has specs listed online.

Otherwise, really, people have posted about what to buy for computers here and other places online. There are at least several people here who have routinely posted advice regarding computer builds/purchases, and tons more on forums more dedicated to the activity.

this, OP you seem like a moron when it comes to computers, no offense lol.
I'm sorry, I didn't know I had to be a computer geek to buy a computer. When I ask a guy "Is this upgradeable?" and he tells me "Yeah, no problem." Why should I expect any different. I'm the moron when he was the one that was wrong?

Guess I should expect no less from PC guys that already act high and mighty above all the console gamers.

All this thread was about was the fact that I was lied to by a Best Buy employee. Instead it has turned into a thread about how I'm not computer geek enough to buy a computer.

Fuck the guy that sold me the computer, and fuck all of you one your high and mighty PC horses.
Came back to apologize. Sorry, came off a little too strong at you guys. I just got fired up at being called a moron and posted my knee jerk reaction.

Still though, fuck the guy that sold it to me.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but I have been working for Best Buy for three years and people have success stories every day. You just got an employee who may not have known the answer to your questions, but I agree that one should always do their own additional research before making a significant electronics purchase.

If he didn't know, all he had to say is "I don't Know" or "I'll find out". No matter if you guys think I should have known my stuff about all the computers there before going  , he shouldn't have bold faced lied to me about it.

Why did you go prefab instead of building your own anyway? If you know how to install ram and a video card, it's not like building a PC is much of a step up.

Because I can finance a computer at Best Buy with 0 interest because I have good credit.

I agree building your own is better, but it isn't for everyone. I mean geez, what's with all the stupid fuckers still using composite on all their consoles when you can mod most of them for S-video or better.

So, let's drop that and actually be helpful.

As has been asked a few times, what is the model of the PC, or a link to its specifications somewhere?

yeah I've bought my last several computers at BB for the same reason. I have no problem with pre-built, as long as it's going to accomplish what I need it to.
