Just want to gauge opinion on this little TV

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Deinterlacing artifacts, massive color bleeding on s-video and component even, and lots of noise too. And it's just a terrible upscaler. The image is extremely jagged, not smoothed out at all. $90 wasted.
I warned ya.

Anyway, when I bought one from Newegg way back, I just sent them an email saying how disappointed I was with it. I made it clear I knew it wasn't their fault, but asked politely if they could do anything about it. They were super cool and gave me an RMA for a full refund. Make sure to post exactly what you did here in the user reviewers. Hopefully it'll keep somebody else from getting the same buyer's remorse.
I never told you you we're wrong. I just had to try.
I know you didn't, and I don't blame you for taking a shot at it. I just wanted to tell you that you can probably get your money back to put towards something else.

I RMAd it. 13% restocking fee. I really wonder if that HDTV I looked at initially would have faired much better than this thing. I'm just really starting to believe that if you wanna play any game consoles from last gen and beyond, you better have a traditional 480i set. The games will look like ass otherwise.

That's why I've stuck with my trusty SD set for now. I used my PC monitor for my 360 for a while, but I keep falling back on the SDTV because it's way bigger. I dunno, HD is nice, but it isn't a big enough pull for me to lose the quality of using older consoles just yet. I still play a lot of PS2 and original Xbox. That's why I'm on the fence now with spending my stimulus on one. Although, I hear the Panasonic Vieras upscale SD sources nicely.

Doesnt 360 have a VGA cable though? I imagine it will put a 480p or 720p signal on your monitor.

I used the VGA cable for a while in 1280x1024, but I just got tired of using a 19" screen and playing 360 at my desk. I've got a 32" SDTV with component inputs that I ended up using instead.

Has this become a two man conversation??? Can I join in too??? May I ask why older games look so bad on LCD HDTV and so great on SD TV??? What good is HDTV then??? I have been trying to look around for a good CRT HDTV with component and vga or HDMI connection if possible. Any suggestion from you guys. Again, I emphasis "cheap" here cuz I don't have a lot of dinero to fling around.

I know someone who actually plans on buying a ps3 and 360 to use on his 13 inch mono tv/vcr combo.

Such a waste, in every sense of the word "HDTV".

Mozgus wrote:Now I cant understand why you have ghosting from consoles in prog scan, but you dont have it on your 360. Very weird. You sure you mean ghosting as in the type of motion blur where individual frames can be seen fading away? It would make sense if the consoles were doing 480i and the tv had a poor deinterlacer, but thats not the case... I cant believe 24ms was unnoticeable to you, when 8ms was so annoying to me on my last LCD panel that I had to sell it because it was throwing off my aim in counter strike.
Hehe, I guess it's just the panels in question are different. Either that or my eyes are messed up. But it most likely has to do with the scaling engine for my Olevia. It's just not a good TV in that aspect. Then again, I didn't really expect it to be. But yeah, that 24ms Dell is an enigma to me too. I can see some scrolling lines depending on the game and how my eyes are focused, but past that, my monitor has worked well for some time. It might also have to do with it being a small panel.
