So how are people liking this? Anyone that also has the Saturn version notice any differences? Aside the Ikaruga mode, of course.

I've been waiting to try this game since I first read about it years ago when it came out on Saturn. Too many ebay auctions got sniped out from under me back then and I gave up hope of ever playing it. I liked Ikaruga, but didn't think it was quite as amazing as some would have you believe. That being said, I tried not to have my expectations up to unreasonable levels for Radiant Silvergun.

It is unforgivingly difficult, and has a steep learning curve, but it, unlike Ikaruga (in my opinion) lives up to all the hype and accolades it has received over the years. I absolutely love playing it, and it is a real blast. Truly a gem of a game, and a "Treasure" worth adding to your XBLA collection.

I'm glad you finally have the chance to play it!

I must agree, few games come close to the amount of epic that game has. I just couldn't believe, 4 crazy bosses in, that I was still on the first stage (stage 3)

I also think I prefer Radiant to Ikaruga, but honestly, I love both. To me, they contrast each other so well, while still exsisting in the same universe, and stil having a lot in common.

I'd actually go as far as to say that I enjoy Ikaruga even more after playing Radiant. I always felt Ikaruga was a little too minimalist, but it makes perfect sense after playing Radiant, which is about as maximalist as you can get.

Is Tate Mode missing - I don't recall seeing an option for it in the demo settings? :(

The game runs in 4:3 ratio, like Gigawing or Soukyugurentai, so no TATE in any version of the game

...and yet no 4:3 support for the XBLA version :? only 16:9

the game is originally from 1998 so showing no 4:3 CRT love kinda hurts, but the remake is from 2011 so I really shouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't be shocked to see the upcoming next gen consoles being incompatible with 4:3 CRT...

it does looks really nice - it just requires a huge HD TV with 5.1 surround sound to get the full effect
(which i don't have)

i need to play around with the video options more. you can't really dial it in, there are like presets and I haven't checked them all out yet

...looks like the Saturn version will still get plenty of love for years to come

Yeah, I noticed that complaint on the shmups forum. I really don't get why they don't include such simple options.

I definitely wouldn't be able to enjoy the xbla port, as I only have a CRT. Doesn't bother me too much though, as I am perfectly happy with my saturn port, and I'm glad that other people that wouldn't have had a chance to try this now do.

Now, lets hope they don't screw up that Dangun Feveron xbla port that better happen!

I still use a CRT with component as my main tv, and when I set my 360 to "Widescreen" in the system options menu and then play Radiant Silvergun... the game screen almost fills my entire monitor. 8)

On the Normal (4:3) setting though, the game screen is definitely too small for my tastes.

I actually play with the video settings a lot with my Xbox 360 games. I put colored stickers - Green for "Normal (4:3)," Yellow for "Widescreen (16x9)" - on all my Xbox 360 game cases to remind me which screen setting looks best for that particular game. I also keep a screen setting list on paper for all my XBLA games. Yes, I'm a nerd. :D
