Is There Anything Special About This Saturn???

Post by peace4myheart »

Saw this on ebay. Might bid on it if it is cheap enough. Just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about his JPN Saturn. Is there anything special about it besides it being see through with the "This is cool" on it. How rare is it anyway???

I've heard of them, but never seen one. From Wiki.

Sega Skeleton Saturn -

Translucent smoky-gray -

Included a matching smoky-gray controller. Both controller and system had "This is cool" printed on them. Only around 50,000 were produced. Has some compatibility problems, notably with Metal Slug and Space Harrier.

Other versions of the Saturn can be found here

So yea, with only 50,000 made it's pretty rare, It looks really cool too! Compatibility may be an issue, I'm sure another user here will know more about that.

I'm still thinking about picking up a Japanese Saturn. I had a American Saturn, but never really got in to it. I ended up selling it. Now I know why I never got into the American Saturn, it was $#@%$# ugly! When I seen the Japanese ones with the white shell (matching the Dreamcast) I was blown away. Beautiful. Why Sega didn't release the white ones in America is beyond me.

The unboxed/used one at videogameimports.com is going for 99 pounds (~200 bucks; sometimes they will take money off when you buy from them). I've seen cheaper but this one seems to be in good shape (having no box sucks, though).

anyone here bidding on it, do let me know. I don't want you or i to have a bidding war and overpaid. Yeah, it is an illegal practice, but I rather someone save some money here if it is not me.

You can get a white Saturn for 2,000 to 5,000Y. I've seen the skeleton version in Osaka for 30,000Y... Never saw the need as the white and black models don't have compatability issues (as a collector, sure it's cool though - 1/50,000).
