So what have you guys been watching lately?
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
Is Doctor Who has cheesy as it looks from advertisements? I've never watched, but plan to at some point and want my expectations to be set properly.

It can be cheesy at times. I think that is largely due to the family friendly nature of the show and the fact that Doctor Who is about as Sci Fi as sci fi gets. It doesn't take itself as seriously as something like Ronald Moore's Battlestar Galactica reboot and revels in whatever crazy, nonsensical sci fi stuff it can come up. This initially turned me off to it. However, the show has so much to offer. Serious character drama, great comedy, witty dialog, mind bending storylines and arcs, great acting, and some rather impressive special effects and production values at times. I can stomach an occasional bit of cheese in light of all thatStark wrote:Is Doctor Who has cheesy as it looks from advertisements? Also, Doctor Who has a history and continuity that goes back years. The character existed before I was born and spans generations of viewers. It's huge in the UK too. It's basically a household name from what I've heard. I feel privileged to be a part of that every time I watch a new episode

My current TV line-up:
-The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
-South Park re-runs
-Stargate: Atlantis re-runs
-Star Trek: The Next Generation re-runs
-Thundercats (New Series)
-TNA Impact Wrestling (which I'm seriously starting to wonder why I still watch it)
-Walking Dead (whenever the new season starts)
-WWE Raw
-WWE Smackdown
-X-Men (90s Animated Series) re-runs
Maybe some Adult Swim here and there, a re-run of That 70s Show or Married With Children sometimes. There's just not much out there on TV anymore that appeals to me.
They cancelled my 3 big shows in recent memory: Smallville, Stargate: Universe, and Heroes.
I did plan on checking out Terra Nova and An American Horror Story.

They've cancelled all the shows I've liked recently too. It's a bit of a downer. American Horror Story looks promising though. And I plan to check out Ringer too. Sarah Michelle Gellar and all those freakin' advertisements have hit their mark and made me curious. I probably won't like it, but I'll give Buffy the benefit of the doubt for a few eps at least.BurningDoom wrote:....I did plan on checking out Terra Nova and An American Horror Story.
The only other things I'm planning to watch are The Walking Dead and The Killing once they both start up again.

I plan on checking out Ringer as well. I don't know much about it, but I am interested in seeing SMG on tv again
Right now, I'm just waiting for my fave stuff to come back on tv. Supernatural, Chuck, Nikita, Walking Dead and Game of Thrones and I think that's it. I'm hoping to get caught up on Burn Notice at some point as I missed most of this last season. I'm enjoying Slayers Revolution on dailymotion for my anime fix. I might give that new Thundercats cartoon another shot even though I wasn't sold on it from the first few episodes I watched. God, I wish they'd bring back Young Justice already!
I finished watching Torchwood Miracle Day on Starz. It was very hit and miss, but I enjoyed it overall. However, it's definitely not as good as Children of Earth was. Doctor Who is firing on all cylinders right now however.
Like BurningDoom, I'm having a hard time sticking with TNA. Honestly, Impact is so uninspired, lazy and just directionless it seems. Sigh

Friadays are becoming the bane of my tv watching existence. They're really cramming lots of genre tv on that night. Nikita, Fringe and Supernatural are all on Friday now. Plus, Friday Night Smackdown is on that night. Ugh, this is so annoying since I like watching each of those

That's what TiVo's for. You don't have to watch it all on Friday, stagger it through the week.Gamerforlife wrote:Friadays are becoming the bane of my tv watching existence. I don't actually have TiVo, but my cable box can record stuff for me. It's just a pain when three of my shows are on at the exact same time. Even if I watch one, record the other, I still miss somethingBoringSupreez wrote:That's what TiVo's for. Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
Wow, Nikita is really good right now. Something the CW should be proud of. It's extremely well done week to week and more people should be watching it. Great action, drama, twists, turns, acting and fucking cool as shit characters. It's my favorite show of the moment actually.
Doctor Who's season finale was kind of lame and I'm sick of the River Song character, who was never that great to begin with. Supernatural is getting a bit shaky with its story right now. Wrestling has been crappy the past two weeks and I can't stay caught up on Fringe because of Fox's stupid rule about not letting people see an episode online until 8 days after, which means you'll always be behind an episode. This is what turned me off Burn Notice. It was getting to be a pain trying to watch it online. I've been having trouble motivating myself to get caught up on Terra Nova and Ringer too so I can't say if those shows are doing great or not
So yeah, Nikita is the only show keeping me consistently impressed and entertained right now. Looking forward to Chuck and The Walking Dead coming back to tv soon and I'm following the new Young Justice episodes. I still like Young Justice, but man nothing seems quite as good as Justice League Unlimited was
One other little bit of awesomeness I'm watching courtesy of the WB's website is Veronica Mars season 2. That show was reeeeeallly fucking good. and I'm having fun watching Slayers Revolution on dailymotion's website

My gf and I are in the second half of season four of Venture Bros. From "Pinstripes and Poltergeists" onward are the best episodes apart from season 2's and season 3's finales.
