ScummVM, Now For Your Nintendo Wii

Post by xentrix »

Well...now I finally have a reason to go out and buy that SD memory card for my Wii. And also to play all of the SCUMM games that fastbilly1 gave to me a couple years ago.

All of the information you need to get it working is linked from that article.

Is the Wiimote accurate enough for ScummVM?
I've heard the iPhone doesn't work with it well be cause some items are impossible to click on without the accuracy of a mouse or stylus.

SCUMMVM is possibly my favorite thing, ever. I've got it on my PocketPC, which is possible the perfect venue, outside of a full-sized tablet.

I'll let you know how it works out when I try it out, but with the Wii games that have some "precision" aiming (LoZ: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime III, Ghost Squad, and Red Steel that I've played) the Wiimote serves its duty well.

I'd think the iPhone's problem is that the finger is just too large of an object to accurately click on only the small text you want.

You have to use the Twilight Princess Hack. Too much of a pain if you ask me. Once they can figure out how to run wii home brew in the forum of a channel, I an't going to mess with it.

erm… This has happened already. Next time research before making silly assumptions.

Yes fair enough you have to do the twilight hack ONCE. Obviously, you haven't even bother trying to hack the wii as it takes less than a minute to do so. Given that the Wii takes less than 2 seconds to boot up you can have the homebrew channel loaded within the space of time it will take to boot up say an xbox or a PS3 into a game…

Once the homebrew channel is there you don't have to do it again until you turn the Wii off. It won't be long until they figure out how to keep it there permanently.

Man the hostility, HEHEHE. The key word being don't turn off your wii. I always turn on consoles off when I am not playing them as most people do to extend their life. Once their is a way to keep the homebrew channel their perminently then that will be nice. So go get it working already, HAHAHAHAHAHHA.

The problem is that Nintendo will come out with updates to "fix" the homebrew channel. This will give people free rain to use emulators then buy the virtual console games.
