Keriotosse was released 1 year before smash bros!
Looks more like Power Stone or Rakugaki Showtime.

Or a single minigame in Mario Party.

It wasn't developed by Sega...

That doesn't mean Sega invented it. That's like saying Microsoft made Halo.

*sigh What I'm trying to say is that this type of game-play existed on a Sega System before Super Smash Bros. and power Stone made it famous.

A more accurate comparison would be Guardian Heroes battle mode vs Super Smash Bros. Guardian Heroes came out in '96.

Older. Not wiser.

But Sega did not "contribute" it. "Some other company's game was on their system" is not a real contribution.

Nintendo didn't make Super Smash Bros either Hal did. So the argument is a moot point.

Sega does tend to get the short end of the stick sometimes. People praise Nintendo for bringing RPGs in the lime light but Phantasy Star was right there. I'm sure many of us could go on if we wanted to.

But I agree with others Nintendo overshadows Sega so much these days in the main stream simply because Nintendo is still here. Sure Sega still makes games, but it is a shadow of what it use to be.

HAL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo that acts as one of several research and development arms of the company. Their accomplishments belong to Nintendo as much as AM2's accomplishments belong to Sega.
