The only official Zelda games I haven't beaten yet are Adventures of Link and Majora's Mask. I bought myself a RGB modded NTSC N64 (I'm in a PAL territory) just to play Majora at its best. It will be the first game I play when my gameroom is ready in a month or two. I'll leave Adventures for last.
As regards the CDi games: since Nintendo are happy to pretend that those never existed, then I don't feel guilty ignoring them as well. Having said that, I do have the ISOs of the three of them and I will probably give them a go some time.

I recently beat Zelda II, which was the last Zelda game I hadn't beaten. I'm happy to have played it, I think it was pretty awesome actually. I used a guide for some bits though, and I don't feel bad about it. Some of those overworld tasks are very obscure.

I don't rate Zelda 1 very highly at all. It's probably my least favourite in the series. I didn't hate it, but I did find it frustrating and tedious.

I need to replay some zelda games sometime. It's been years and years and years since I beat Minish Cap, ALTTP and the oracles games, I don't remember some things about them anymore. I do remember really enjoying all of them though.

My top 3 zelda games currently are the fairly predictable usual pattern, but hey, I played them all, so I gave the others achance to topple my top 3, right?

2.Majora
3.Wind Waker

I have completed all of the handheld games in this order:

Link To The Past (GBA)
Minish Cap
Link's Awakening
Oracle of Seasons
Oracle of Ages
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks

So that was done over a period of 3 years. I'm currently playing Ocarina of Time (OOT) on the Wii VC. I suspect at the rate I'm going (I just finished Death Mountain boss), it'll take me another 2-4 months.

I think I will play Majora's Mask after I finish OOT. Although I nevered played OOT on the N64 back in the 90s, I can see why many Zelda fans consider it to be the best one in the franchise. The music & story have been great. The graphics are still wonderful. The controls are pretty good.

I find it hard to play the Zelda games back-to-back-to-back. I have to take a break and play other type of games in between.

I beat Wind Waker last summer. Good game, but I wasn't big on the whole "sail around the world" thing.

And I really need to play Majora's Mask sometime.

How the hell can you not have any interest in the original Legend of Zelda? That game is awesome.

Good luck with Zelda II. That game gets insanely hard near the end. The path to the Great Palace is brutal.

Truth be told, I've only played through the first four games (Zelda, Zelda II, Link to the Past and Link's Awakening). I've been meaning to play though Ocarina of Time for years, but just haven't gotten to it. I have owned it for soooo long. Same with M.M. and T.P.*

Good luck. I'm trying to do the same. And I've only finished A Link to the Past. I'm working on Adventure of Link right now. Both on the Virtual Console. It's just easier to continue the game.
Thanks everyone...

That's what I've been wondering while reading some of these responses. I loved the original Zelda. It's in my top favorite NES games of all time, and seriously ranks up there with the rest. You might say it's nostalgia, being my first Zelda game and one of the first NES games I've played, but I still love everything about it: simple, atmospheric, adventurous. I'm not sure where it gets "tedious", except maybe burning all those damn bushes with a candle, but if you get too tired of that you could always cheat and look it up.

Also, don't forget there are the BS Satellaview games too.

Gotta agree I'm a big fan of the original myself. I can probably think of many NES games I'd put above it, but I still think it's an awesome game. No denying 3D Dot Heroes is closer to the original than any other installment.
