Resolution to play through all the Zelda games...
Re: Resolution to play through all the Zelda games...
I know the GC and Wii versions of Twilight Princess are mirrored and have their own glitches and nuances... but other than trying to get a speedrun, they're fairly similar yes?
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

only difference that matters to me is the controls.pakopako wrote:I know the GC and Wii versions of Twilight Princess are mirrored and have their own glitches and nuances... but other than trying to get a speedrun, they're fairly similar yes?

I absolutely love most of the Zelda games, just don't burn yourself out on this insane journey Hazerd. Take some breaks in between games if you want.
Zelda II is definitely no pushover. If you haven't figured it out yet, jump + duck + attack is a pretty good move... or whatever you want to call it. Good way for taking out a lot of enemies quickly, especially since there's a lot of sections where the ceiling is really low, but you can jump just enough to duck and hit shielded enemies and stuff.
To be honest I haven't even beaten Zelda II myself, I got extremely far though but I think I just got stuck. The game has a lot of trial and error segments, so I wouldn't blame you for looking things up if it comes to that. Have fun with those cave mazes...
@CFFJR: I know it's unfair to dismiss them since I haven't played them at all, but yeah... I've seen enough videos to never want to touch the CD-i games. The controls are god awful from what it looks like (really awkward combination's for menu/item usage as well), and in both I think you can one shot the final boss for some really anticlimatic endings.
I'm going to have to say I don't regard them as official games at all either.
Capcom's games are certainly a different case though. Seasons/Ages are amazing, I think they blow Minish Cap and the other newer handheld ones away, though I'm still pretty partial to Link's Awakening even if it's super easy.

I'm doing the same thing, so good luck! I look forward to following your progress! I just finished Adventure of Link and am plowing through Link's Awakening DX, (skipped ALttP as it's my favorite game of all time and I've beaten it more times than I have fingers..) My reasoning for the playthrough is more the 25th anniversary, rather than Skyward Sword. Although I have to ask:
Where's the original 'Legend of Zelda'??
I hope you plan on playing and completing the original soon! It's one of the rare NES games, and 80's adventure games, that truly does stand the test of time.
Where in Adventure of Link are you at now?

It would be interesting to add to this challenge, play through all the games modeled or inspired by Zelda as well. Then you have to throw in Okami, Beyond Good and Evil, Darksiders, etc, etc.
I think the TC should probably add 3D Dot Game Heroes to the list. I mean it's so close to the original Zelda and Link to the Past, it practically feels like a new Zelda game

Im skipping the original legend of zelda for now just because i lack interest in it and im kinda hooked on Adventure of Link, i also want to finish Links Awakening, when i originally played it on the phat gameboy i used the "Press Select" bug to skip rooms/screens and never actually completed the game legitly lol.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:I'm doing the same thing, so good luck! I have that game on my bargain bin wishlist.Gamerforlife wrote:It would be interesting to add to this challenge, play through all the games modeled or inspired by Zelda as well. Then you have to throw in Okami, Beyond Good and Evil, Darksiders, etc, etc.

Haha, that's kind of weird. The original Zelda is pretty good. I never remember it for puzzles though, rather the sheer difficulty of just normal fighting. The later dungeons get loaded with enemies everywhere that deal so much damage it's insane. Just like Zelda II, it's not really a pushover.
Re: Resolution to play through all the Zelda games...
I beat the original Zelda because I felt I needed to, but I didn't have a whole lot of fun doing it.
By the time I was done I was impressed with what it had done for its time, but that's pretty much it.
