I know, it makes me wonder what percentage of the gaming community actual takes the time to see what a console offers before they jump on the Band wagon and agree with everyone else.

So far game wise for mine I have Sonic CD, Slipheed, Ecco, NBA Jam, and Chuck Rock II. are those good games for the system?
That's a decent line-up but there are plenty of games to up the ante. NBA Jam is fun regardless of platform, Sonic CD is a given, Silpheed is a nice looking shmup, Chuck Rock II is you're average platformer and Ecco is... well I don't know. I own it but it's more of an interesting type of game.
What a maneuver!

As always, I have shmup recommendations.

Android Assault: An awesome horizontal shooter with a headbanging soundtrack, and your ship can change into a mecha.

Lords of Thunder: Another awesome horizontal shooter, with an even more headbanging soundtrack. You can choose between different elemental armors. Not quite as good as the Turbografx Super CD version, but if thats not an option, this one is still solid.

Robo Aleste: From Compile, the people that made MUSHA. This game has horrible voice acting in the opening scene, but great gameplay! The only verticle scrolling shooter on the Sega CD that I'm aware of. Has an interesting option system and nice powerups

There is also Keio Flying Squadron, but seeing as its quite pricey, I haven't had the chance to try it yet. From what I've seen, it looks like a pretty nice horizontal Cute 'Em Up.

i love shmups that don't star a spaceship, so keio is right up my ally and definitely one of my favs on the system.
if you took a shit, please put it back

Ironically, all the games I mentioned feture non-spaceship craft, except android assault, but you can still transform

android assualt is in a mech suit and is close enough to a space ship in my book

robo aleste: same as above

lords of thunder: no robot

but, keio is a girl flying around a dragon or whatever. and the enemies are chicken heads, chicken eggs, cats, and all kinds of goofy shit. i guess you could say i like cute-em ups.
if you took a shit, please put it back

Ah, I gotcha.

I think my favorite Cutemups would have to be cotton and air zonk. Very colorful games.

Parodius is pretty cool too, but I have a hard time getting into the gradius style.

I'll have to give Keio a try, if I ever find an affordable copy.

Joe made an interesting video a few years back, though its based off visuals. Still interesting nonetheless.

What a maneuver!

I actually have that video on my youtube Sega CD play list. Makes me want to buy soul star. It looks so nice, though I know as a gamer it is the gameplay not graphics.
