Which (2) 5th GEN Consoles are you owning? Poll Question

I guess we're reading this poll differently. I'm taking this the "which two 5th gen consoles would you have on a deserted island" approach, or "which library of games and hardware do you prefer?".

Well, that's why I mentioned it. The OP simply says "assuming there were laws against owning more than 2 consoles from certain time periods". He didn't stipulate having no other consoles.

The N64 is aight i guess it's just the software lineup is unacceptably too small leaving me with some slim pickn's like Mischief Makers, RE2, KI Gold, Magical Tetris, Zelda OOT.

Thats why these polls always go astray, don't read too much into it, don't overthink it.

I think most people understand the question, for those who apparently don't, i'll update the OP to also say, NO OTHER CONSOLES EXIST. These are the 5, you may own 2. You may not modify your Saturn to play 3DO games, etc.

Why can't I choose 3? I own 3. I own a PS1, a Sega Saturn, and an N64. But if for some reason I had to get rid of one, it would be the N64. PS1 is definitely my favorite in that generation by a wide-margin, and I like my Saturn more than my N64.

A possible flaw there is that the PS1 hardware is hardly necessary to play PS1 games, given that the PS2 and PS3 play nearly all of them just fine.

Since both PS2/3 aren't 5th generation consoles, this flaw is out of the equation.

No, it isn't.

Logically, to me, it's a matter of library, and in that respect I'd pick the PS1 over any of the others there. It's easily the most expansive, at least for the U.S.

However, if I were getting rid of three out of five of those specific consoles, I'd not keep the PS1. I don't need to. I've got a PS2 and a couple PS3s that can play most any PS1 game I want.

With that as the case, I'd keep the N64 and the Saturn. The N64's library is fairly unique, since it wasn't well suited for porting games over from the PS1/Saturn/DC. The Saturn is better for certain genres, and does have unique titles as well.

The Jaguar and 3DO each have relatively few standout games, and even among those many were cross-platform.

Were there some additional restriction to ignore other ways to play PS1 games, I'd say PS1 and N64.

In that case, why not count emulation on a PC? If I'm not mistaken, both the PS and the Saturn are emulated well, but not the N64, so that'd make N64 and 3DO?

Not trying to cheat the question, I chose PS and N64, since, unfortunately, I'm not that familiar with the totality of Saturn's library, but shmups and Bomberman aren't enough to make me choose that over the countless hours I put into the N64 and some really great titles on the PS1.
