I finally got an iphone yesterday

I didn't smile today, one of my classmates died due to heart failure. The sad thing is is that his mom subbed for us yesterday. The reason I care so much is that the middle school is 200 people.

That sucks.

I've been very unlucky in the death department (that makes me think of an aisle in a retail store. "Oh, the plastic sporks are on aisle 9, right next to the death department"). I've had several, yup several, best friends die since I was 6 years old. My bestie Chris Marafino died when I was 6 during an open heart surgery (he fell off a ladder and a rib pierced his heart) and the streak continued up until 2010.

But I like the line "Even in the darkness every color can be found. And when you're feeling down, remember there is always someone who has it worse around". One of my best friends actually cut his Father off a noose on X-Mas eve. That puts shit in perspective when you think YOU had a bad day.

In short, you have to live your life why you have it. Not in a radical sense, but it is okay to be a little self centered if it creates the life you wish to live. I mean, look at JT's haircut. The guy lives to live, and that's worth the sound of two hands clapping if you ask me. That goes for Izzy too. Hate him if you'd like, and I wouldn't call him for advice, but i admire the fact he loves who he is.

I guess I could have summed this up in a few words, "Always take time to smell the roses".

Death is always sad. About a week ago one of our football player's Dad died in a car crash- wasn't wearing a seatbelt. I'm kinda a sad person for no particular reason. (Not depressed, think Hank Williams) We've talked a lot more lately and I've tried to help him get over it. It's hard to know what to say....

But a fighting game w/o buttons??? Try one of the CAVE shooters; those play really well on the iPhone.

He stole it from his Dad two weeks before. The reason I can say all this is because I didn't know him too well, but I still did talk to him. He was also a grade higher than me, and he was in high school. But I knew him enough to care. He wasn't depressed for all I knew.

No offense to anybody, but I think a lot of the blame can be put on his Dad for leaving acess to said gun avialable to his son if there was any indication that this could happen. If the son had say, stolen a key to get into the gun cabinet, that is still the father's fault in my book.

Unless it was obvious that the kid was thinking about suicide, I wouldn't blame the parent. No one forced the kid to pull the trigger, after all. Suicide can have many factors to it, but the ultimate blame lies with the one committing it.

Consider this: had the dad known his son was thinking about suicide, and had put away the gun, it wouldn't have stopped him. If that kid was determined, he'd just have done it with pills or a knife or by jumping off a bridge.

I'm not trying to trivialize anything, I'm just saying I don't think his dad is to blame just for having a gun around the house.
