I pretty much have to say FFVI. It has a great story, amazing 16-bit graphics, and a fun battle system. There's not much I can say against it.
I haven't yet played any FF games more recent than FFVIII, so I don't yet know if the modern titles will beat it out.
Your Favorite Final Fantasy

I just learned something crazy about TEKTORO... he likes Mystic Quest!!
We must know more. Were you playing Vi WHILE losing your virginity? Because we have a thread for that.

Oh man, this is hard. I would say FF6 is very high on my list and most probably my favorite. But the problem is the other ones are sooo great as well. I really liked FF9 and FFTA as well. But yeah, 6 is probably the best one.

Why didn't this thread come with a poll?

I've always been very partial to IX, followed closely by VI.
I was super excited for the 3d remakes too (III and IV for the DS), but those games just seem to lose their charm (or, more likely, nostalgia) in that form

Re: Your Favorite Final Fantasy
It's interesting seeing where different people got on board with the FF series. I started with the North American FF 3 on the SNES, so I got a taste of old school final fantasy. Then FF 7 came out and I got on board with new school FF and have stuck with it ever since. I tried playing FF 5 once with job the system and hated it. However, I love how the job system was incorporated into FF Tactics and it's also one of the few things I loved about FF X 2. So aside from FF 3, I don't have much fondness or experience with old school FF and FF 9 really did nothing for me when it came out. I didn't hate it at all, but it didn't wow me like FF 7 and 8 did before and it didn't have any kind of nostalgic effect on me. I actually like the futuristic style of modern FF games versus FF 9's more old school, fantasy approach.

Tek:Yea with this paticular one, reasons why is so great to me is because it eventually lead to me playing FFIII.
I remember the day......Lil teenage punk tektoro skating up to Toys R Us,$30 bills in pocket.Knowing my way to the videogame aisle, knee's are weak (and thats from all the skating and dehydration)What seems like 100s of Snes title and their price tickets just fingertips away I stumble upon a 29.99 price ticket my prepubeseant eyes gaze above the price to see the words FINAL FANTASY.....
mystic quest..grabbed that mofos ticket and skeet skeeted up to that window to get my copy....then skeet skeeted my lil ass home to play and conquer.
And basically with FFIII I seen that shit on display high and mighty @ Funcoland back in the days.I seen that moogle on the cover with its dark and beautiful background I knew I had to have it.Poppa dukes was the cash cow back then so I had to get an ass whoopin before I could convince him to pay the $90-130 bucks on that game. But sure enough like everytime I came home with what I wanted![]()

In order:
Final Fantasy IV (is that obvious?):
Little to be said about this that hasn't already been said, but it is by far, by far, my favorite Final Fantasy game. Despite the linearity, the characters, plot, music, enemy designs, battle system, FIVE MEMBER PARTY, music, plot - did I say music yet? - make it one of the most compelling games I've ever played.
Final Fantasy V/Final Fantasy VI:
I don't know which to choose yet. Let me replay them first. I wasn't as impressed with either the story or the music, but I am a huge fan of the many innovations they introduced. I only wish they didn't go back to a four member party. I like variation and big battles.
Final Fantasy IX:
I'm not finished playing this game yet (a Snickerd00dle failure), but I am thoroughly impressed with it. Unlike VII and VIII, it really brought back the old feeling from IV-VI for me.
Final Fantasy I-III:
Meh, good NES games, but I have no particular attachment to which order they should go in.
Final Fantasy VII-VIII:
I've never finished either of these for a reason. Not my cup of tea.
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest:
It was the worst game I actually finished. OK, so it wasn't all bad, but I can't honestly put it above anything else.
And I've never played X or anything thereafter.
Edit: I've also played FF Legends II, but not for long, and I wasn't impressed.
