Guys, Guys, Guys, wait. I was just using tony hawk 2 as an example. I don't want a dreamcast neither. The dreamcast was and still is a awsome system but I want a playstation 1. One reason I bought it with my own paycheck. and 2 I got one for christmas from my wife and we used to play tekken 3 and ape escape all night.
I will check out some sites but if anyone of you guy's have hands on experience on buying the same game for a diffent platform and you think it was better on the 64 or ps1 let me know.
I do know that shadowman sucked for the ps1 but was great on the n64. Or was it doom? Or maybe vigilante 8? I don't remember.

Ziggy587 wrote:I look at the Wikipedia page for the particular game and cross my finger that it has a "Ports" section. Most multi platform games will have this entry on a Wiki page. It will list each console port with a description. It will usually do a good job of letting you know which version has the better graphics, which version is censored, which version has missing levels, has bonus content, et cetera.

Reading this reminded me of something. If you read the Hardcore Gaming 101 blog, they usually cover ports in their write ups of different games. It's one of the things I respect the most about that site. Again, it's just hard to get REAL info from mainstream gaming sites likes IGN, 1Up and those other crap sites. Although, Gamespot does occasionally talk about port differences in their reviews of multi-console games. So kudos to them for that. A lot of their reviews are a bit better than other mainstream sites out there, but not all of them

Shadowman, Vigilant 8 lol! More DC Superior ports lol! but seriously, if u like the PS1 so much (me like too) then why not go PS1 version and problem solved. Tony Hawk 2 is better on PS1 btw. You'll also have the luxury of playing these PS1 games on other consoles (if u purchase PS2 PS3 down the road).

If it helps, there is a person on YouTube named therealbluedragon, who has posted a bunch of "Battle of the Ports" videos where he compares two different ports of old games, mostly PS1 vs Saturn titles.
"Welcome to the circus of values!"

Currently Playing: Crysis (360), Destiny demo (PS3), Roadblasters (MAME)

I second this, good video quality as well. It's surprising how well the Saturn held up even with all the negativity surrounding it's graphics.

Tempest X3 on the PS1 is a little different than Tempest 2000 on PC, Jag, and Sat. Not that different, but some minor tweaks.

And again, I get schooled...
