Your Favorite Final Fantasy
Your Favorite Final Fantasy
My favorite Final Fantasy would have to be X, I love the atmosphere the music, and it was the last game Sakaguchi and Uematsu worked on. (Tidus is annoying though especially that laughing scene) But other than that it`s my favorite whats yours?

Definitely VI. The story, world, and characters can't be beat to me. Not only is it my favorite FF but one of my favorite games of all time.jod5000 wrote:My favorite Final Fantasy would have to be X, I love the atmosphere the music, and it was the last game Sakaguchi and Uematsu worked on. Hard to say, I love IV-VII a lot. V is a new one, the GBA port is amazing and it has some of the best gameplay in the franchise to me. But the stories are better in IV and VI, and VII is just good times despite its flaws to me.

Every time I have thought about dusting off VII and going back through it, I remember the load times and not being able to skip through summons videos and then my desire to play is effectively gone.Xeogred wrote:Hard to say, I love IV-VII a lot. Re: Your Favorite Final Fantasy
Its cliche, but for me its VII. Now, I don't find it to be the best Final Fantasy, but due to nostalgia, its my favorite.
If I had to go for the FF that I found to be the most well made, I would pick Final Fantasy IX.
I also hold both VI and X very highly though. I think that if VI would have been made on the ps1, no one would have given VII any of the credit. As far as mixing customizable/unique characters, I think VI did it best.
I love having the ability to choose what magic/stats I learn, while still having characters that have moves unique to them. Plus, the story/art/music/massive amount of characters/espers... such a great game.

IV is my favorite, but I'm sure a lot of you already know that. V and VI come after at a tie.
I kind of think X is the best game overall though, due to the excellent battle system. It's just traditional turn based combat at it's absolute finest. X falls flat when it comes to story and characters unfortunately, but for me the gameplay and music more than make up for the flaws.

Re: Your Favorite Final Fantasy
This one is easy for me. Final Fantasy VIII (8), no doubt about it. It was my first JRPG, it was my first Final Fantasy and it was the first PSOne game I beat. Why because it's brilliant and it caught me at the perfect time. I was in college, I was about the same age as the characters, I related to the "being thrust into responsibility" story and the characters and scenes from this game really mean something special to me.
As I've got older I can objectively see that FF8 has really unbalanced combat, especially if you're spending time on Triple Triad, and without the interpretation given by squallsdead.com (which I happen to agree with, and feel was intentional by the designers as the symbolism seems to obvious on reflection), the storyline is convuluted and confusing to say the least.
As for which ones the best, I'm not sure. Final Fantasy IX perhaps. I think it's more balanced gameplay wise than Final Fantasy VII and the humour and pacing is better but Final Fantasy VII has more memorable characters, and a better soundtrack. I'd edge Final Fantasy IX a little more. Final Fantasy VI has a good storyline and some memorable scenes but the gameplay is slow and repetitive at times, a fantastic game, but it lacked the refinement of the later games. Final Fantasy IV on the PSP is also extrememly good, but I'd say it's age is showing even with a remake, and the story seems a little basic. Final Fantasy X on the other hand is memorable and fun but the storyline seems a bit slapdash, the voice acting is awful and the characters are irritating at times, still the combat is exceptional and it has the best gameplay of the series (if you're not playing the rediculously easy North American release with a pre-planned sphere grid and bosses/monsters have reduced HP). All in all I'd say IX is the best, but the series is extremely strong thoughout... except the ones made after X which are a steaming pile of dog crap, that's when you switch to Lost Odyssey which in my opinion is Final Fantasy XI in all but name.

Hmm I didnt much care for the paper rock scissors nature of the battle systembrunoafh wrote:IV is my favorite, but I'm sure a lot of you already know that. V and VI come after at a tie.

Re: Your Favorite Final Fantasy
FF 3(US title)
It was my first rpg and had a great story. I've probably played through it more times than any other FF game. After that, it would be:
2. FF 7 (the most epic FF game of all time)
3. FF 10
4. FF 13 (Because of the awesome combat system)
5. FF 12 (Frustrating as hell, but also rewarding. It's been the hardest FF for me to 100% complete with all the side stuff)
Course, that order can change at any given time. I've thought about about the question of how I rank them so many times
My least favorite:
Final Fantasy X 2
Final Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy 11 - Just because it's not a real Final Fantasy game

Re: Your Favorite Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy VI was on the PSOne, I own it. We never got the SNES version though so for us VII came first as VI wasn't released until 2002, a solid 5 years after VII (and for some reason North America got it in 1999, they already got it on the SNES once Square, how about us Europeans you ignorant devs).dunpeal2064 wrote:Its cliche, but for me its VII.
