Zig's SNES Repros
Re: Zig's SNES Repros
Well, yes and no. Removing a SOP mask ROM and replacing it with another is definitely a lot easier than having to wire in an EPROM pin by pin. But the EEPROM I used isn't easily obtainable, and my programmers don't support them. I would have to build my own adapter for my programmer, they don't make the kind I need for it.
Re: Zig's SNES Repros
okay, so to word it more accurately, you found a DIFFERENT way of doing the star ocean repro?

You used what as EPROM Programmer to write above?
I use as EPROM Programmer a willem sivava But he(it) do not take this reference (MX 29L3211)
The Willem programmers do not support the 29L3211. You would have to build your own adapter for it. You would need to make a 44SOP-42DIP adapter that you would plug into your 16-bit Willem adapter.
edit: DO NOT USE THIS METHOD. TO safely use 3.3v memory with a 5v supply you need a voltage regulator as well as a logic level shifter. If you use only a regulator or voltage divider, you risk damage to the cart and/or console!

32Mbit 4M
2.7V ~ 3.6V
That EEPROM is not 32Mbit, it is 4Mbit (not 4 MByte).

Thats a really nice mod Ziggy!

Thanks for sharing it, Im going to give it a try myself.
I would love to see some pictures of your adapter.
ohh im new here by the way, So hello!

Re: Zig's SNES Repros
Hey this question is to anyone who has used this tsop adapter to make a repro:

My question is, in some of the pictures earlier in this thread it looks like some people have the R1 and R3 pads joined by some sort of resistor or pad? Am i out to lunch here?
The reason i ask this is that i have the 29f032 flash roms and ive been trying to make Seiken Densetsu 3, and for the life of me it wont work! I have read this thread through a 100 times and i still cannot figure out why this repro isnt working for me.
As far as i was aware these adapters are compatible with the SNES maskrom pinout, so i dont see what im doing wrong here.
Can anyone help? I'm at my wits end, here

Just don't forget to step down the voltage or you'll fry the chip.

The resistors really aren't needed, but you'll still have to close those pads. Just make a solder bridge on them. After that, just make sure you've got the orientation correct.

They are indeed compatible with the pinout. The resistors really aren't needed, but you'll still have to close those pads. Just make a solder bridge on them. After that, just make sure you've got the orientation correct.
Hey Zig thanks for replying so quickly!
When you said check the orientation, did you mean the orientation of the pins?
Re: Zig's SNES Repros
Yes, make sure the TSOP is facing the correct way on the adapter and that the adapter is facing the correct way on the board. Also, verify that the pins of the TSOP are perfectly placed on the adapter board and that it's soldered correctly. Those chips are very hard to solder.
