I'm still waiting for an X-X3 styled X10.

I'd be down for that. The story would of course suck though. They never did any of the things I had hoped for with the series storyline. I had always hoped for a story where we find out that Dr Wily's consciousness existed in some machine, robot or hologram. It would be revealed that he had always been helping Sigma. He would also have revealed to Zero that Zero had destroyed Mega Man X's predecessor the original Mega Man, as well as X's original creator Doctor Light. We'd find out that after the massacre, Zero never did find the capsule where Light had sealed away X.

Plus, we'd learn that Zero destroyed Bass after Bass tried to defeat him to prove his superiority. Then when Zero turned on Wily, a program or chip was activated allowing Wily to exert control over him and seal him in a capsule until he knew what to do with him. We find out that after that Wily obsessively looked for Mega Man X's body to destroy Light's last creation, but never found it. Upon meeting Zero in the current timeline, he'd demand that Zero destroy X or be destroyed himself by the nasty new robot Wily has created based off of Zero's original schematics and using data that Sigma had compiled on X. I think that would have been a cool story

I just wish X and Zero would duke it out, with Zero having to go. That was heavily implied at the end of X2 and X3, with Zero being the last of Wily's creation and his DNA or whatever constantly causing robots to go maverick or something like (it's been a long time since I've played all of the games, so yeah...)

It would've been epic for sure.

Wasn't Wily hinted at returning at the end of MMX5? That's definitely when it got really convoluted, and then X6 just messed everything up.

X5 was supposed to be the lead-in to Mega Man Zero, but Capcom messed it up by making X6 behind Inafune's back.

I've tried some good "your mama..." insults to make him angry, but the guy is like a machine, he won't get angry. Maybe if I make some jokes about Dr Light fucking Roll I may get him to fight me.

Cue jokes about "screwing", "bolting, "nuts", "tamper-proofing" and possibly a tempering jab.

Rule of thumb I learned from the fellowship of Perry Bible: never get caught screwing a board who gets nailed regularly.

X and Zero did duke it out at the end of Megaman X5. You might have missed it though. It was hard to notice it over the sound of how anti-climatic that game turned out to be.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yeah, I didn't like how they handled the X vs Zero thing in Mega Man X 5. It certainly didn't seem as climactic or significant as it should have been. The game did seem to imply that Wily was back and I was dissapointed that at no point in the game did he actually make an appearance. Mega Man X 4 really set the stage for something epic with everything we saw in the anime cutscenes, even a hint that Zero destroyed Mega Man and co. Mega Man X 5 didn't really deliver though

It's weird what they did with MM X 6's story. When Zero talks to a Dr Light hologram, he says someone saved him but he doesn't know who. So basically, someone brought Zero back to life. It's implied that he suspects it was the Dr Light hologram and he also asks it if it saved X. Then, when Zero runs into that enemy robot Isoc, he seems to know everything about Zero including how to easily disable him. I seriously thought that robot was Wily in a new body and wondered if he resurrected Zero since Isoc seemed completely obsessed with Zero and even seemed convinced that he was more powerful than X. They hinted at some interesting stuff in MM X 6's story that could have led to something cool, but it didn't

I tell you I probably would buy another MM X game. The series has definitely had its ups and downs, but I've stuck with it through thick and thin and always managed to get some enjoyment out of it. Even though I rag on MM X 6 I honestly did get some entertainment value out of it. Megaman X is kind of like the Final Fantasy series. It's just crack for me and I'll always take another hit when offered. I mean I had issues with FF 13, but still enjoyed some things about it and got all the trophies for it on the PS 3
