Should America or Japan feel ashame of the lack of "Jrpg"

Since I have noticed the thread has a wrpg vs jrpg overtone (which discussions about jrpgs tend to go nowadays)
this picture pretty much sums it up to me
I love both genre of rpg, but there has been a steady decline in mainstream jrpgs that are not on a handheld in the US. All the while wrpgs are picking up steam... There is a correlation between the 2.
as it was said before its the market...

Pretty much end of thread in my opinionRyaNtheSlayA wrote:Um... what?
If you're asking whether America or Japan is to blame for the lack of JRPGs, then I don't think either of those are the answer to that. The market right now just isn't really interested in the old style JRPGs. So if anybody, blame the consumers.

Ugh. Consumers are a fickle lot; popular trends can appear just as suddenly as they disappear. One day it's Pokèmon, the other day it's Dragon Age. Soon, RPGs will go back to being dice rolling in the forest with wooden cutlasses.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:If you're asking whether America or Japan is to blame for the lack of JRPGs, then I don't think either of those are the answer to that. I doubt it. That would be like people going back to analog broadcasting, or manual can openers. Maybe the classic RPG mechanics and stylings will come back, but it'll be as a Facebook game or something.pakopako wrote:Ugh. While I was just being snide, old RPGs as Facebook games... seems totally plausible. I mean, games like Final Fantasy Adventure / Seiken Densetsu have been on the Mobile Phone market in Japan for years now.BoringSupreez wrote:I doubt it. (And I still use manual can openers! I have way too many Swiss Army Knives, even a P38...)

Automatic Can-Openers are finnicky and unreliable anyway
