It's going on until September 11th and they give you the cheapest games free.Kahokian wrote:How long does the B2G2 at gamestop last? I have some plans to buy a ps2 again and take advantage of the deal. Also I was wondering are there any stipulations regarding the deal. For instance, say I buy two cheap games for like 2.99 or so a piece. Can I turn around and get two more expensive games for the get two free deal. Or do the games have to be the same price as the first 2 purchased or less? I am just wondering.!

Ok thanks but what exactly do you mean by that? So I cant buy 2 15 dollar games than get 2 other 15 dollar games free? Because at a game stop a few cities over from me has a huge amount of ps2 games and it just says B2G2 at the top of the ps2 rack.

What he means is if you buy two games (let's say @ $15 and $10) and you pick out 2 more games ($20 and $15), the two games you'll get for free are the $10 and one of the $15 games.Kahokian wrote:Ok thanks but what exactly do you mean by that? Whenever a store does a "buy x, get x" promotion, (especially Gamestop), it's always the cheapest games in your transaction that become the ones taken off!

Was hanging out at the local Play n' trade and noticed a few cib gameboy advanced games sitting in the glass case. The owners son pulls the games out and lets me take a look, there's maybe a few spendy titles there, Tales of Phantasia, Mario 3, Pokemon emerald and more all in great shape. Then he just says, sell you all of them for $50.
kind of out of no where. I'm sure a good deal but I need to be trimming down / cutting back. So I unfortunately passed (dumb I know).
I take a closer look at the Tales of Phantasia and mention something about having the game and no box. He just takes the game out and hands me the mint condition box, with all manuals and even the plastic off the game for free.

Very cool of them to do! My local Play N Trade would likely do the same.. It's because the franchise doesn't mark up the SKUs because of additional original packaging or anything.. My advice to anybody with a PnT near them is to make friends with the workers..Mechblue wrote:Was hanging out at the local Play n' trade and noticed a few cib gameboy advanced games sitting in the glass case. GoodWill and PawnAmerica can eat shit, and heres why.
i goto GoodWill today and look for some games, usually they have nothing but stupid sport games for dirt cheap, well i see a SNES game in there glass case and low and behold its Super Metroid, which is always a good score and they want fucking $24.99 for it! thats not a deal and certainly shouldnt be priced that high at GoodWill considering they got it for free.
then i goto PawnAmerica and they have 2 copies of Star Wars: KoToR 2, one copy is 11.99 the other is 39.99 both exactly the same CIB, so i go up to the counter asking if i can get both for 11.99 you know because thats how it should work since they priced it wrong and should pay for there mistakes, well the clerk goes and checks with the manager, then she comes back and gives me this bullshit that i have to pay 19.99 for the 11.99 one otherwise both will go on ebay, and not to mention the 39.99 one has been there for literally half a year, no one in the right mind would pay 39.99 for KoToR 2 at a PAWN shop.
i have always been under the impression that pawn shops and thrift stores are where you get a deal, if i wanted to pay retail prices i would just go on amazon or ebay.
and no i shouldnt of paid for it, but its still a deal at $19.99, but its better than nothing at this point.
FUCK this shit.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
Sure you don't like the price but there's this funny thing called a free market. That price is in line with the current value of the game. Sure it sucks if you aren't able to get a deal but the righteous indignation that people are getting against Goodwill because they're not getting something for less than 50% of market value is getting tiring.Hazerd wrote:GoodWill and PawnAmerica can eat shit, and heres why.

Again, free market. Also, Even if a place follows the 'sell it at the misprice' thing that everyone believes is true, generally you're only going to get the one mispriced item if they do it. They aren't going to sell you all of them at that price. If someone screws up and leaves off a 0 so something is marked $10 instead of $100, you'll be lucky to buy the one mismarked one instead of all of the inventory, including the stock in the back. But any store has the right to refuse service to anyone as long as their reason isn't based on race/gender/religion. They are free to tell you to die in a fire and keep that game sitting there until the earth crashes into the sun and you are free to leave with the contents of your wallet intact.then i goto PawnAmerica and they have 2 copies of Star Wars: KoToR 2, one copy is 11.99 the other is 39.99 both exactly the same CIB, so i go up to the counter asking if i can get both for 11.99 you know because thats how it should work since they priced it wrong and should pay for there mistakes, well the clerk goes and checks with the manager, then she comes back and gives me this bullshit that i have to pay 19.99 for the 11.99 one otherwise both will go on ebay, and not to mention the 39.99 one has been there for literally half a year, no one in the right mind would pay 39.99 for KoToR 2 at a PAWN shop.
Just because you are under a misconception that a business is obligated to give you a deal doesn't make it so. Pawn shops especially are out to squeeze money out of desperate people by lending money at terrible rates and buying stuff of people for pennies on the dollar. They are most definitely not your friend.i have always been under the impression that pawn shops and thrift stores are where you get a deal, if i wanted to pay retail prices i would just go on amazon or ebay.
So you got an ok price on one, but not two. You are complaining about nothing as far as I can tell.and no i shouldnt of paid for it, but its still a deal at $19.99, but its better than nothing at this point.
Getting that worked up about a game that you had were lucky enough to have spending money on and aren't going to die if you can't play is unhealthy man. If you hadn't noticed the economy is in the toilet, be glad you aren't struggling to pay bills like some people.FUCK this shit.

I'm pretty sure hobie doesn't get too worked up...particularly about an FotD rant. Looked like a pretty cut-and-dried rational response to an irrational post.Hazerd wrote:i dont like you very much Hobie-wan but ill let it slide this time....

The day our ability to get (or not get) video game deals delves into ^ that topic and all that goes with it, is the day we need to seriously examine our NEED to get video game deals.Hazerd wrote:also the truth of it is, alot of people are having kids KNOWING they cant afford it, so you know alot of people put themselves in their in hole and i have no pity.
