A bit late now, but a good thing to clean plastic are the Dettol wipes, or similar brands, used for cleaning surfaces in the house:

Cleaned off the gunk from some computer mice recently, made them look miles better - also, no liquid to worry about. These wipes shouldn't damage surfaces either.
