Just want to gauge opinion on this little TV

So I'm thinking about buying this one.

I know there's a lot of 32 inch sets for slightly more, but this set has a higher resolution (making it more ideal for PC usage), better contrast, better response time (a huge factor for me with FPS games), and the most important aspect: 32inch is too big for me. I tend to live in small rooms, generally crammed with a lot of stuff. I dunno where I'd put a 32inch, nor how I would sit at a far enough distance from it to not individually see every pixel on it.

My usage is generally 60% PC, 10% cable tv, 30% last gen game consoles. I don't actually own an HD-capable device besides the PC, nor do I plan to anytime soon. I do plan on making use of the Dreamcast and PS2's 480p outputs. I'd make use of Gamecube's if the component cables for it weren't $70 on ebay. So the Gamecube and Saturn will still use s-video through a switch box if necessary.

So I guess I'm asking if anyone has any real gripes with LG or this specific line of TVs? Or if I'm overlooking some huge flaw with this thing? I plan on going with the 4 year plan, using the 5% off coupon, and doing local pickup for just under $650 in the end. You might have guessed that the $600 government rebate check next month is providing the thrust in this endeavor.

I'm actually using my $600 for an HDTV as well, except I plan on getting the 32" Vizio.

Anyway, for what you plan to use it for, that particular TV should be fine. I've heard really good things about the LG line of HDTVs, and the ones I saw on display while window shopping looked fantastic. I would prefer an extra HDMI and component input set myself, but you can always get a switch box. I'm confused though, because it says the native resolution is 1680 x 1050, but lists the TV as being 720p. What's up with that?

I noticed that too. You would think that with a resolution like that, 1080p would be fine, but I'm thinking maybe it's a limitation of the built in HDTV tuner and not the screen? I dont know. I don't really care though, because again, I won't be owning an xbox 360 or anything. As long as the PC can use that resolution, I'm happy.

Dude... A serious peice of advice, save 150 extra dollars, and buy a Sony Bravia 32" 1080i, the speaker is very decent if you turn the bass up a couple notches and the color is vivid and has a better contrast ration over the Visio, I have both, (one upstairs, a Sony downstaires, and a Hitachi in the living room) and by far the Sony is the best looking and sounding.

First, what is a Visio? Thats not what I'm buying.
Second, I don't need speakers. I have my own sound system. I'll never use the TV's speakers, so if I can save money by getting shitty ones, so be it.

After checking the Bravias on CC, its definitely not for me. Read all my reasons why in my first post. The Bravia doesn't meet my standards that I outlined. Remember in your thread when you got mad at people replying without reading it?

It looks fine to me. The thing about LCD panels is that they really don't have any ghosting issues when used at full resolution. Both on my 24ms Dell LCD and my 5ms Syntax Olevia LCD, when played at full res, there are NO points where I ever see any ghosting. My 360 looks freaking beautiful on my TV, even though it too only cost 600 bones. Now, GCN/Wii/PS2 all in progressive scan look great pretty good on my TV, though there is very noticeable ghosting, which I dislike a lot. Of course, this is a newer more main brand panel, so the scaling engine will most likely be a bit better. Just don't expect GCN and Saturn to look as good as your computer will.

The thing is that a lot of cheaper LCDs are all manufactured in the same place, so you don't find too many differences among brands. Just the outsides. Considering yours has an HDMI in (which I used for my xbox on my Olevia), you should expect your computer games to look fabulous. That seems like that would be the most important thing for you anyways.

Yeah, I plan on using a DVI to HDMI adapter. They're very cheap, it seems. Or just a dvi to hdmi cord to avoid a bulky adapter hanging off the tv, but that will need to be ordered through newegg, as HDMI cables are overpriced at retail.

Now I cant understand why you have ghosting from consoles in prog scan, but you dont have it on your 360. Very weird. You sure you mean ghosting as in the type of motion blur where individual frames can be seen fading away? It would make sense if the consoles were doing 480i and the tv had a poor deinterlacer, but thats not the case... I cant believe 24ms was unnoticeable to you, when 8ms was so annoying to me on my last LCD panel that I had to sell it because it was throwing off my aim in counter strike.
