Pretty sure the only reading you need is to advance the storyline. (BALDR FORCE was originally a PC ero-game series before they cleaned up their acts with their DC & PS2 games. And an animated mini-series to promote another PS2 game. Not sure where the company behind them are now.)mjmjr25 wrote:Baldr Force looks a bit like a mecha bangai-o / cannon spike hybrid. I think I would absolutely love it if the text is not present once you get rolling.
What is the best Shmup on the Dreamcast?

My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

IMO the only shmup on the DC that isn't much good is Chaos Field, and even then it's worth at least trying. Really the only problem with a lot of the games is how much they cost.

Yep, not a chaos field fan at all. And it's 10x the price of the GCN version, literally - 2x the price is worth the DC upgrade, not 10x.t0yrobo wrote:IMO the only shmup on the DC that isn't much good is Chaos Field. I actually found the gamecube version to be superior to the pricey dc one.

^ Yeah, perhaps - but no decent (and available ie, HORI) stick for GCN, though the x-arcade w/adapter might be alright.

Initially Chaos Field looks cool an play is ok. Then it wears out it welcome after a couple of days. I dont hate the game by any means an i think it deserves a look. There isnt anything really flawed with the game per say. Its the same thing with Border Down. I think the developers tried to do something too different an the game went into too many different directions literally. If they would of focused more on the main game an toned down the whole Bordering Down process this would of been a fantastic game. I enjoy ZeroGunner 2 an Trizeal although (Tirzeal) isnt the most impressive on a graphical standpoint. Im crossing my fingers that Sturmwind will be a good one. So far im impressed an although i was initially upset it was delayed i would rather wait the extra months for a better game.
Curtsy when you walk by that Dreamcast

I consider Border Down to be on the compltetly opposite end of the awesome meter as chaos field. Up there with the best of em imo

Out of the ones I have I will go with GigaWing 2, Trizeal and Psyvariar 2. There is still a few of the big expensive ones I need to try though. Trizeal really needs some more love!

Zero Gunner 2 and Ikaruga are my favorite SHMUPs, personally. They're both very addictive, which is a very important quality for games in the genre.
