Your favorite Puzzle games!
Re: Your favorite Puzzle games!
Just want to note that the special attacks in Puyo Puyo 4 are really annoying and not balanced at all. I would suggest telling the other people to just not use the special attacks when playing multi player games. That is the main reason I listed Puyo Puyo 2 instead of 4.

Is puyo puyo 2 that 4 player one on the super famicom?ZenErik wrote:Just want to note that the special attacks in Puyo Puyo 4 are really annoying and not balanced at all. I read somewhere that puyo puyo 4's special attacks weren't in the 4 player game. Is this incorrect? Even if it is I'll probably get 4 anyway for the higher resolution. If it is correct, I've got puyo puyo fever and bean machine to cover 2 player games.

Some nice picks so far, i'll second (or third) Chu Chu Rocket as a fun game, that isn't rooted in Tetris / dropping blocks / bubbles of some sort or another.
My fav. game not mentioned thus far would be Baku Baku Animal for Sega Saturn. Really cool music, rooted in puyo puyo type of connect-the-matching-blocks gameplay. A definate recommend in the $10 range.
I always enjoyed a few gameboy games as well, Boxxle, Boxxle II and Kwirk come to mind as fun, but not your everyday puzzle games.
For the N64 I always enjoyed Lode Runner as a puzzle game w/action elements, but most def. a puzzle game. I always wanted to enjoy Wetrix and plan to one day.
Charlie Blast's Territory is also a largely unknown but very enjoyable "put this here, then I can go there, oh crap, nope this has to go here first, ok, lets try this again" game.
On SNES Wordtris is a nice little game you can pick up for $3 and has great learning elements for the young ones.
I've really been please with some wii puzzle games as well, Gravity stands out as one of those games that makes good use of the wii-motes motion abilities, but not losing the strategic gameplay importance.
And my fav game i've played this year is Safecracker, which is a point and click puzzle adventure, that my entire family enjoyed. Think Myst, but better graphics, and more difficult puzzles. I really wish there were more games like this.

^yep, saved that for you Yosh, a really really good game, particularly the "limited-moves" challenges.YoshiEgg25 wrote:Pokémon Puzzle Challenge.

Always been a fan of Chip's Challenge, Rodent's Revenge, and Minesweeper. Also Tetris, Kirby's Avalanche (or any Puyo game), and Dr. Mario.
I've also been trying to get into Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo but can't seem to figure out any good strategies. That and I keep subconsciously trying to set up puyo puyo style combos

Re: Your favorite Puzzle games!
I like:
The Art Style series on Wiiware and DSiware. Great puzzle series by nintendo.
Chu Chu Rocket
Puyo Puyo
Portal
Columns (to an extent)
Wetrix
Picross
Pokemon Link
Ghost Trick (this one's amazing, everyone should play it)
Professor Layton series
Puzzle Link
Zack & Wiki
World of Goo
I generally prefer the 'match 3' arcadey type of puzzle game, or else actual conventional puzzles a la picross or prof layton. I'm not really a huge fan of most puzzle/platformer or actioney puzzle game type affairs as much (like Mighty Flip Champs for example). It is a genre I really love though. A good puzzle game does the same for me as a good shmup - completely clears my head and gets me incredibly focused in the game. Its relaxing and stressful all at once
Really? I always found that game incredibly clunky to control and full of petty annoyances. I can't bear the thought of having to sit through the remaining 68 levels I have to beat to get the ending >_<
